Dali Katch G2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Iron Black)

Dali Katch G2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Iron Black) – A Hi-Fi Speaker That Happens to Travel

Most portable speakers are built down to a size and a battery figure. The Dali Katch G2 is built the other way: DALI started with the driver engineering it uses in its home loudspeakers and worked out how to fit it into a slim, 1.1 kg enclosure you can genuinely carry. The result is a two-way stereo system with drivers firing from both sides, 2 x 25 watts of fully digital Class D amplification and up to 30 hours of playback – in Iron Black, the finish that sits quietly in any interior.

This second generation adds Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD, a larger battery and True Wireless Stereo pairing, refining a design that was already the portable speaker hi-fi listeners recommended to each other.

Drivers on both sides, and why it works

A single front-firing portable speaker beams sound at whoever sits in front of it and sounds thin everywhere else. The Katch G2 places its driver sets on both faces of the cabinet, so sound integrates with the whole room instead of one seat. Combined with the passive radiators, which let a sealed enclosure produce deeper bass than its size suggests, you get a balanced, composed presentation – the DALI character of detail without hardness – at background level in a study or filling a kitchen while you cook.

Two profiles, honest tuning

The Clear profile keeps the response neutral and balanced, which suits near-field listening and most rooms. Warm adds low-frequency weight for bigger spaces or outdoor use, where bass naturally dissipates. It is a more honest approach than a row of exaggerated EQ presets, and switching takes a single button press. Pair two Katch G2 units in True Wireless Stereo when you want a genuine stereo image across a larger space.

Built to be carried, finished to be kept

The extruded aluminium and ABS enclosure, genuine leather carry strap and slim 47 mm depth make it closer to a well-made travel object than a gadget. At 138 x 268.5 x 47 mm it slides into a bag and disappears onto a shelf. Iron Black is the understated option: no flash, just a finish that never dates.

If portable speakers have always sounded like a compromise to you, the Katch G2 is the one that stops asking you to compromise.
