How the pair works

Most Bluetooth speakers are single portable boxes. The Calisto takes the installed route instead: the active speaker contains the amplification and the Bluetooth receiver, and the passive speaker connects to it, giving a proper left-and-right stereo pair fixed to the wall. Streaming a phone, tablet or laptop to the pair needs no separate receiver, streamer or speaker cable run back to an amplifier rack, which makes the system practical for outdoor areas where a hi-fi stack does not belong.

Drivers, crossover and controls

Each speaker is a two-way, full-frequency-range design. The 6.5-inch woofer uses a rubber surround, and the tweeter is a 1-inch titanium dome for clear high frequencies.
