Edifier MP120 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Iron Grey)

Edifier MP120 Portable Bluetooth Speaker (Iron Grey)

The Edifier MP120 is a slim aluminium-bodied portable speaker with a proper stereo layout: two 4 W channels for 8 W RMS total, in a bar-shaped body that slips into a bag pocket. A 2200 mAh battery runs it for up to 19 hours in Bluetooth mode, which is several days of typical listening between charges.

Playback is flexible: Bluetooth 5.0 for phones and laptops, a 3.5 mm AUX input for wired sources, and a Micro SD slot so the speaker can play a loaded card with no phone involved at all. Touch controls sit on the body, and the water-resistant finish shrugs off splashes and light rain, though it is not made for submersion.

Why a stereo bar beats a mono puck

Most pocket speakers are mono: one driver playing both channels summed together. The MP120 keeps left and right separate across its width, which restores a sense of space in music and makes dialogue in videos easier to follow. Combined with the long battery life and card playback, it works as a self-contained travel radio as much as a phone accessory: load a card, and it plays all day with nothing paired. The aluminium shell also survives bag life better than plastic shells, and it doubles as a heat-tolerant, rattle-free enclosure at higher volumes.

Where it fits

Travel, desk listening, kitchen and bedside use, language practice and audiobooks, and as a presentation speaker for small rooms: a slim, long-running stereo speaker that does not need a phone to make music. The full specification is in the Additional Information table on this page.
