Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar (White)

Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar (White) – Flagship Dolby Atmos Soundbar

The Smart Ultra is the soundbar Bose builds when cost is not the first question. Nine transducers sit behind its metal grille, including two upward-firing dipole speakers that bounce height effects off the ceiling, and a centre tweeter that keeps dialogue anchored to the picture. Dolby Atmos decoding and Bose TrueSpace processing work together, so films, sport and music all gain width, height and separation that a television’s own speakers cannot approach. This Arctic White version carries the same hardware as the black model, finished for lighter rooms where a dark bar would sit heavily under the screen.

How the height and width are created

A soundbar has no separate speakers to place around the room, so the Smart Ultra creates its soundstage acoustically. The two upward-firing dipole transducers aim Atmos height information at the ceiling, which reflects it back down to the seating position, while the end transducers and Bose’s phase-guide thinking push effects wider than the cabinet itself. TrueSpace then upmixes ordinary stereo and 5.1 content into that same spacious presentation, so older films and everyday television also sound larger, rather than only native Atmos titles benefiting.

Dialogue that stays clear

Modern film mixes often bury speech under music and effects. A.I. Dialogue Mode watches the balance between voices and everything else and adjusts it in real time, lifting speech clarity without flattening the surround field around it. Combined with the dedicated centre tweeter, it means late-night viewing at modest volume stays intelligible, and busy action scenes do not force you to ride the remote control.

Calibration, streaming and control

ADAPTiQ is Bose’s room calibration: you wear the supplied headset, sit in your usual positions, and the bar measures how the room shapes its output and corrects for it. Day to day, control is by voice, the included remote, or the Bose app. Wi-Fi streaming covers AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in and Spotify Connect, Bluetooth handles quick plays from a phone, and SimpleSync can pair compatible Bose headphones or speakers for private or grouped listening.

Growing the system later

The bar is complete on its own, but it is also the starting point of a modular system. Bose bass modules add the low-frequency weight a slim cabinet cannot produce, and Bose surround speakers add genuine rear channels, all connecting wirelessly. Because the calibration and processing live in the bar, those additions integrate without replacing anything you already own.

In white, with a tempered glass top and a cabinet just 5.8 cm tall, the Smart Ultra is the discreet way to give a good television the sound it should have had from the start.
