The Bose Surround Speakers add true rear-channel surround sound to compatible Bose soundbars, turning a soundbar setup into a genuine home theatre. The pair of compact cube speakers — under 10 cm tall — connect wirelessly to the soundbar through their included wireless receivers, so the only cable at the back of the room is a short two-pin lead from each speaker to its receiver, plus mains power for the receiver. The wireless range to the soundbar is up to 30 feet (about 9 metres), within the same room. This listing is the White finish.

Bose designs these speakers exclusively for its soundbar ecosystem. Per Bose, they are compatible with the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar, Smart Soundbar 600, Smart Soundbar 900, Smart Soundbar 300, Smart Soundbar 700, Soundbar 500 and SoundTouch 300 soundbar. Setup runs through the soundbar’s own pairing process: plug in the receivers, connect the speakers, and the system recognises them as the surround channels; volume balance for the rears is adjusted in the Bose app or soundbar settings, and ADAPTiQ calibration on supporting soundbars includes the surrounds.

How the wireless connection works

The speakers themselves are passive cubes; the amplification interface lives in the two wireless receiver boxes. Each receiver plugs into mains power and drives one speaker over the short included cable, while receiving the surround channel wirelessly from the soundbar. That means you need a power socket within cable reach of each rear position — the trade-off for not running long speaker wires from the front of the room.

Placement

Bose recommends placing the pair behind the main listening area, one on the left and one on the right, ideally at ear height on stands, shelves or wall brackets. Because they handle effects and ambience rather than dialogue, exact aiming is forgiving; keep the path to the soundbar reasonably clear for the most reliable wireless link.

Where it fits

Owners of a compatible Bose soundbar who want the envelopment of real surround speakers for films, sport and games, without running cable runs across the room. Adding the pair is the step that turns front-only soundbar audio into a room-filling presentation, with effects, weather and crowd noise arriving from behind the seats as the mix intends.
