Bowers & Wilkins CWM 7.5 S2 In-Wall Speaker

Bowers and Wilkins CWM 7.5 S2 – One Continuum Driver, Nothing Visible

The CWM 7.5 S2 is the single-driver in-wall speaker in Bowers and Wilkins’ 700 Series S2 architectural range. A 180mm Continuum cone bass/midrange driver works with a 25mm Carbon Dome tweeter to deliver bookshelf-speaker performance from a flush wall mounting, finished with a slim paintable grille that all but disappears into the room.

Where the CWM 7.4 S2 is built for front-stage LCR duty, the 7.5 S2 is the flexible all-rounder of the range: stereo music in living spaces, surround channels in a hidden cinema, or high-quality multiroom audio where the speakers must not be seen. It uses an integrated back box to keep performance consistent from wall to wall.

Continuum and Carbon Dome, in the wall

The Continuum cone, developed for the 800 Series Diamond, replaced Kevlar across the Bowers and Wilkins ranges because it breaks up more smoothly, keeping the midrange free of the colouration that makes voices sound chesty or nasal. The Carbon Dome tweeter extends the same philosophy upward: a stiff, light dome whose first break-up mode sits far above audibility. Built into a wall, those technologies are why the CWM 7.5 S2 sounds like a 700 Series loudspeaker rather than a ceiling accessory.

Where it fits in a system

Install a pair for stereo in a kitchen, study or open-plan living area and the room gains hi-fi without furniture. In a cinema, CWM 7.5 S2 speakers serve as side or rear surrounds matched to CWM 7.4 S2 fronts, or as the main channels in smaller media rooms. The speaker is passive, driven from a suitable amplifier or AV receiver channel, and performs best when the cut-out and back box are planned at first fix.

Who the CWM 7.5 S2 suits

Choose the CWM 7.5 S2 for architect-led interiors, renovations and media rooms where sound quality must survive the demand for invisible hardware. It is the sweet spot of the in-wall range: genuinely high-end drivers, flexible duty, and a finish that asks for no visual compromise.

Installation notes

The CWM 7.5 S2 fixes into its cut-out with Bowers and Wilkins’ QuickDogs clamps, the frame pulling flush as the screws turn, and the magnetic grille finishing the job. Plan cable runs and cut-out positions at first fix, keeping the back box clear of studs and services. In surround duty, mirror the pair symmetrically around the seating; in stereo rooms, ear-height placement with modest toe-in toward the listening area gives the Continuum driver its best chance to image.
