Why a sphere

A sphere is the strongest, stiffest shape an enclosure can take, and it has no parallel internal walls and no sharp external edges. Gallo uses that geometry to eliminate the two main causes of loudspeaker distortion: internal resonance and external diffraction. Inside, the patented S2 fill technology loads the tiny cabinet so the driver delivers low-frequency weight well beyond what its size suggests. The result is a satellite that sounds composed and spacious rather than thin, and that stays clean when the volume rises.

One driver, no crossover

Most small speakers split the signal between a woofer and a tweeter through a crossover network, and the crossover is where phase errors and a sense of discontinuity creep in. The Micro avoids the problem entirely. Its 3-inch driver, with a cone of mica-polypropylene compound, covers the full range on its own, so voices, instruments and effects arrive as one coherent wavefront. That is the source of the Micro’s imaging: performers stay locked in place between and beyond the speakers, and dialogue in films remains anchored to the screen.

Placement anywhere

At 795 grams, a Micro can go almost anywhere. Set it on a tabletop, where it responds from 120 Hz to 18 kHz, mount it on the wall or ceiling, or raise it on a floor stand, where the response extends to 100 Hz. A threaded insert and a redesigned terminal area with gold-plated posts make connection and positioning simple. Use a pair for two-channel listening, five or more for a home cinema that disappears visually, or singles and pairs for multi-room audio through the house.

Building the system around it

The Micro is a satellite, designed to hand the deepest bass to a subwoofer. Set your amplifier or AV receiver’s speakers to small and let a subwoofer cover the lowest octaves, and the Micros will play louder and cleaner. With 8-ohm impedance and 89 dB sensitivity, they are an easy load for ordinary receivers and amplifiers, and the 100-watt power handling gives generous headroom for film soundtracks in real rooms.
