The DALI SUB E-12 F is an active bass reflex subwoofer built around a 12-inch long-stroke woofer with a polymer aluminium diaphragm and an integrated 170 W RMS Class D amplifier, finished here in White with a matt satin front baffle. It is designed to add controlled low-frequency weight to stereo and multichannel systems, with a frequency range of 28 Hz to 190 Hz (+/-3 dB) and a maximum sound pressure level of 112 dB. DALI engineered the driver with an oversized ferrite magnet optimised for maximum flux in the voice coil gap, reaching a measured B/L value of 14 N/Ampere — a figure the company cites as evidence of the control the motor exerts over the cone, which matters most at the lowest frequencies where the subwoofer works alone.

The Class D amplifier was chosen for its linearity and continuous power delivery rather than short-term figures, with a maximum power consumption of 250 W and a 25 kOhm input impedance that suits both AV receiver subwoofer outputs and stereo preamplifier outputs.

Cabinet and placement

The solid MDF cabinet measures 370 x 340 x 380 mm including its base and weighs 14.7 kg. The front grille attaches magnetically; removing it reveals the aluminium cone. DALI recommends floor placement, preferably in or near a corner, at least 5 cm from the wall, and the raised spike system improves efficiency and placement freedom by clearing the floor beneath the cabinet.

Integration with a system

For home cinema, the LFE input bypasses the subwoofer’s crossover so the receiver’s bass management sets the blend. For stereo, the line-level inputs and the adjustable 40 to 120 Hz crossover let the SUB E-12 F take over below the main speakers’ natural roll-off, with the phase switch aligning arrival times at the listening position. DALI positions the model as a natural partner for its speaker ranges, including the OPTICON MK2, FAZON, OBERON and SPEKTOR series.

In White, the SUB E-12 F adds the low-frequency foundation that small and medium speakers cannot produce on their own, while its finish and compact footprint let it sit visibly in a light-toned room rather than demanding concealment.
