Revel Concerta B8 Wireless Subwoofer

Revel Concerta B8 Wireless Subwoofer

The Revel Concerta B8 is a compact powered subwoofer designed to add a proper low-frequency foundation to systems built around small speakers — Revel’s M8 satellite packages, Concerta2 speakers, or any stereo or home cinema setup where a large subwoofer cabinet will not fit the room. An 8-inch down-firing woofer in a sealed enclosure, driven by a 200 W continuous amplifier, delivers controlled bass down to 45 Hz. Its headline convenience is the wireless connection: the included transmitter sits at the receiver or amplifier, so the subwoofer can go where it sounds best rather than where a cable can reach.

Key features

• 8-inch (200 mm) down-firing woofer in a sealed enclosure
• 200 W continuous (RMS) amplifier power, 400 W peak
• Frequency response 45 Hz to 200 Hz (minus 6 dB)
• Wireless transmitter included — no subwoofer cable run
• Up to two B8 subwoofers can share one transmitter
• LFE and stereo line-level RCA inputs for wired setups
• Volume, phase and Bass Boost controls on the subwoofer
• Compact high-gloss cabinet, 353 x 267 x 267 mm, about 9 kg

Why Wireless Placement Matters

Bass is the most placement-sensitive part of any system: a subwoofer forced into the one corner a cable reaches will boom in one seat and vanish in another. The B8 removes the cable from the decision. Its transmitter connects to the receiver’s subwoofer or line output and links to the subwoofer over a selectable wireless code — four codes are available, so neighbouring systems do not interfere, and one transmitter can feed two B8s for smoother, more even bass across a larger room. Signal sensing switches the subwoofer on and off automatically, and a 3 to 30 V trigger input is provided for hard-wired control systems.

Sealed-Box Control

Revel chose a sealed (acoustic suspension) enclosure rather than a ported one, trading a little ultimate output for tighter, better-defined bass that starts and stops cleanly — the right priority for a subwoofer meant to partner small, articulate satellites in music as well as film systems. The down-firing driver loads evenly into the floor and is protected from vacuum cleaners and children’s toys. A phase control aligns the subwoofer’s output with the main speakers at the crossover, and the Bass Boost switch adds low-end lift when a film soundtrack or a small room asks for it.

Part of the Concerta Family, Welcome Anywhere

The B8 was designed as the low-frequency partner for Revel’s M8 SP2 and SP5 satellite packages and works equally well with Concerta2 and Revel architectural speakers, but its LFE and stereo RCA inputs make it a straightforward addition to almost any receiver or amplifier with a subwoofer output. Standby consumption is under 0.5 W, maximum draw is 261 W on a 230 V supply, and the high-gloss automotive-grade finish is made to be seen in a living room rather than hidden in a rack.
