The Sonicview 24 is Tascam’s flagship surface in the Sonicview range: a digital mixing console built around three 7-inch touch panels, 24 Class 1 HDIA microphone preamps and a 96 kHz, 54-bit floating-point FPGA mixing engine. It handles 44 input channels, configured as 40 mono channels plus 2 stereo channels, with 4 FX returns, for touring, installed sound, houses of worship, recording and broadcast work where the engineer needs to see and reach a lot at once.

Three displays running the Tascam VIEW interface, 24 plus 1 motorised 100 mm faders and per-channel colour LCDs keep channel names, levels and gain reduction visible without menu diving. The mixing engine runs independently of the control surface operating system, so audio continues even if the surface needs a restart.

Sound quality and latency

Conversion is 32-bit at 96 kHz and the FPGA mix engine works in 54-bit floating point, a combination aimed at preserving detail when dozens of channels are summed. Analogue-to-analogue latency is quoted at 0.51 ms, low enough that in-ear monitoring and foldback do not feel detached from the performance. Each input carries the processing you expect from a modern live console, with libraries for snapshots, effects, EQ, gate and compressor settings so proven setups can be recalled rather than rebuilt.

Networking and expansion

Dante is built in rather than added on: 64 inputs and 64 outputs with redundant connections and Dante Domain Manager support, plus AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110 interoperability for broadcast and installed networks. Two expansion slots accept optional cards for multitrack SDXC recording, MADI, AES/EBU and additional analogue or Dante outputs. The optional SB-16D stage box adds 16 inputs and 16 outputs over Dante when the stage needs remote preamps. Word clock, gigabit Ethernet, GPIO and talkback connections complete a panel designed for system integration.

Control, layers and recall

Seven custom fader layers, 8 DCA groups and 18 assignable user keys let you lay the surface out around the show. Sonicview Control software for macOS, Windows and iPadOS provides remote control and offline editing. Two-channel internal recording and playback to SD card or USB flash drive covers walk-in music and a stereo capture of the mix.
