Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB Turntable Record Player With USB | DJ Setup & Home Audio Compatible | Vinyl Player With Direct Drive Motor And Phono Preamp

Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB – Direct-Drive Turntable with USB

The Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB is a fully manual, direct-drive turntable for listeners who want proper control over playback, and for DJs who need a deck that starts fast and holds speed. A DC servo direct-drive motor, quartz-locked pitch control and a stroboscopic platter keep rotation accurate, while the supplied AT-VM95E cartridge on an AT-HS6 headshell delivers clean, dynamic sound from the first record.

It also carries a USB output, so the same deck that plays your collection can digitise it, and a switchable phono preamp, so it connects to almost any amplifier, powered speakers or mixer.

Direct drive, and why DJs insist on it

In a direct-drive deck the motor turns the platter itself, rather than through a belt. The platter reaches full speed almost immediately, resists slowdowns when a hand touches the record, and holds pitch under the demands of cueing and mixing. Quartz lock keeps the selected speed exact, and the pitch control lets you adjust tempo deliberately when you want it. For home listening the same engineering shows up as steady pitch on long piano notes and consistent timing across a side.

A cartridge you can grow with

The AT-VM95E sits in Audio-Technica’s VM95 series, whose styli are interchangeable on the same cartridge body. When the elliptical stylus eventually wears, you replace the stylus rather than the cartridge, and if your ears or budget grow, other VM95 stylus profiles fit the same body. The S-shaped tonearm’s adjustable tracking force and anti-skate let you set the deck up properly for whichever stylus you run, protecting both records and sound quality.

Analogue today, archive for tomorrow

The USB output, used with free recording software such as Audacity, turns the turntable into a digitising station: record a rare pressing once, and you have a file for the phone and the car while the vinyl stays safe at home. The switchable preamp means the analogue output works into a phono input, a line input or powered speakers.

For collectors, home DJs and archivists, the AT-LP120XUSB covers playing, mixing and preserving records in one serious, serviceable deck.

Setup and daily use

Setting up a manual deck properly is part of owning one, and the AT-LP120XUSB makes it straightforward: balance the tonearm, dial in the tracking force for the VM95E, set the anti-skate to match, and level the platter speed with the strobe markings if you ever need to check it. The removable target light helps you drop the stylus into the right groove in a dim room, and the hinged dust cover protects the deck between sessions. Day to day it is simple: select the speed, lift the cue lever, place the arm, and lower it – a small ritual that is half the pleasure of vinyl.
