The Ahuja APA-480 is an installation PA power amplifier rated at 600 W RMS, built to sit in a rack behind a mixer or processor and drive a public address system day after day. Short runs to a few nearby speakers suit direct 4 ohm or 8 ohm outputs. Long runs to many speakers spread across a building do not: cable losses and load matching become a problem. Constant-voltage 70 V and 100 V outputs solve that by letting each speaker tap a small amount of power through its own transformer, so a corridor, a floor or a whole campus can be covered from one amplifier. Why balanced inputs and ground lift matter
In a large building, the mixer and amplifier may sit far apart, and long unbalanced cable runs collect hum and interference along the way. Installation notes
Mount the amplifier in a ventilated rack with clear space around its vents, match every speaker load to the correct output terminal, and keep the total connected load within the rated power. Route line cables away from mains cabling, and switch the unit off before changing speaker connections. At 32.2 kg, plan the rack position and support accordingly.
