Sonos Port Wireless Audio Streamer

Sonos Port – The Small Box That Brings Your Existing Stereo Into Sonos

The Sonos Port is a streaming component for people who already own a stereo they love. Connect its line-out to your amplifier, AV receiver or powered speakers, and that traditional system joins the Sonos platform: streaming services, internet radio and multiroom grouping with Sonos speakers elsewhere in the house, all controlled from the Sonos app or Apple AirPlay 2.

Port works in the other direction as well. Its line-in accepts a turntable, CD player or other analogue source and streams that source to any Sonos speaker in the home, so a record collection in the living room can play in the kitchen. A 12V trigger output wakes a connected amplifier automatically when music starts, removing the small friction that stops people using the big system for everyday listening.

Two directions of travel

Most streaming upgrades force a choice between the old system and the new one. Port refuses that choice by working both ways. Outbound, it is a modern network streamer feeding your amplifier a clean signal from every major service. Inbound, it is an input for the sources streaming forgot: vinyl, CDs and anything else with an analogue output. A turntable will still need its own phono stage or a built-in one, since Port has no phono preamp, but once connected, records become a whole-home source rather than a single-room one.

Everyday details that matter

The 12V trigger sounds minor until you live with it: press play in the app and the amplifier wakes and plays, with no hunt for a second remote. Line-out level options let Port hand a fixed signal to an amplifier you control with its own knob, or act as the volume control itself for powered speakers. Dual Ethernet ports wire the connection where Wi-Fi is unreliable and can pass network onward to nearby equipment. Setup through the Sonos app takes minutes.

Who the Sonos Port suits

Choose Port if you own an amplifier and speakers you intend to keep, and want Sonos streaming and multiroom without replacing them. It is also the right buy for vinyl listeners who want records playable on Sonos speakers around the home. If you have passive speakers and no amplifier at all, the Sonos Amp is the sibling product built for that case.
