The PreSonus QUANTUM ES2 is a compact 2×2 USB-C audio interface from the next generation of PreSonus interfaces, built for self-produced recording and studio-quality music production on a desk, in a bedroom studio, or on the road. It records at 24-bit, 192 kHz through MAX-HD microphone preamps with up to 75 dB of gain, so quiet microphones and dynamic voices are captured cleanly without a separate booster or outboard preamp.
The PreSonus QUANTUM ES2 keeps the session simple where it matters: a front-facing instrument input co-developed with Fender for guitar and bass, an Auto Gain function that sets input levels automatically, and a straightforward control layout with clear metering. It connects over USB-C to Mac, Windows and compatible mobile devices, and it ships with Studio One software so a first recording can start the same day the box is opened.
Small interfaces often force a choice between clean gain and convenience, and the PreSonus QUANTUM ES2 refuses that trade. Its digitally controlled MAX-HD preamps deliver high gain with low noise, which matters most for the affordable dynamic and ribbon microphones that home studios actually own. Auto Gain then removes the most common beginner error, a level set too low or clipping, by finding a healthy input level before the take starts.
The PreSonus QUANTUM ES2 also respects the way modern creators work. Guitarists get an instrument input voiced with Fender’s input, vocalists get a clean mic path with phantom power, and everyone gets a bus-powered desktop unit that moves between rooms without a power brick. For a solo artist, podcaster or songwriter, it is the smallest PreSonus interface that still sounds like a studio tool rather than a compromise.

Best Suited For

Setup and Connection Guide
Connect the PreSonus QUANTUM ES2 to the computer with a USB-C cable and install the drivers and Studio One software from PreSonus. Connect a microphone to a combo input and enable +48 V phantom power for condenser microphones, or plug a guitar or bass into the front instrument input. Press Auto Gain and play or sing at performance level so the interface sets a healthy input level, then connect headphones or monitors, create a track in Studio One, and record.
