Hawk HC2PLU USB-C to Dual 6.35mm TS Cable (1.8m)

Hawk HC2PLU USB-C to Dual 6.35mm TS Cable (1.8m)

The Hawk HC2PLU is a 1.8-metre cable that connects a USB-C device directly to two channels of professional audio equipment. One end is a USB-C plug for a phone, tablet or laptop; the other end splits into two 6.35mm TS male plugs, the standard unbalanced line inputs found on mixers, PA systems and powered speakers. It replaces the chain of adapters that playing music from a phone through a proper sound system usually involves: no separate headphone adapter, no mini-jack lead, no Y-cable stacked on top.

Key features

• USB-C plug to two 6.35mm TS male plugs
• 1.8-metre length from device to console or speaker
• Feeds two input channels, left and right
• Direct connection to mixers, PA systems and powered speakers
• One purpose-built cable instead of stacked adapters
• Suits phones, tablets and laptops with USB-C audio output

The job this cable does

Background music in a cafe, a backing track at a rehearsal, a playlist at a wedding, a fitness instructor’s phone feeding the studio system: the source is almost always a phone or laptop, and the destination is almost always a mixer or powered speaker with 6.35mm inputs. The HC2PLU is built for exactly that hand-off. The two TS plugs land on two channels of the desk, or one each on a pair of powered speakers, and the source’s stereo output arrives as two mono channel feeds the engineer can level, EQ and mute like any other input. That is a materially better arrangement than a headphone socket and a borrowed adapter, because each side of the signal gets its own proper input channel.

Working notes

Set the source device volume sensibly before raising the channel faders: start with the desk channels down, press play, and bring the level up from the mixer, checking both sides are present. TS connections are unbalanced, so keep the cable run as this cable provides it and route it away from power supplies and lighting dimmers where practical; at 1.8 metres the run is short, which works in your favour. Confirm your source device supplies audio over its USB-C connection in the form this cable expects, since USB-C ports vary in how they handle audio accessories. Coil the cable loosely for transport and avoid wrapping it tightly around the device, which stresses the split point where the two TS legs divide.

Who keeps one in the bag

DJs covering a drinks reception before the main set, event managers running walk-in music, house-of-worship operators playing tracks from a volunteer’s phone, and sound engineers who are tired of being asked for an adapter that almost fits: this is their cable. It turns the commonest playback request in live and installed sound into a ten-second connection.

One cable, from the USB-C device in your hand to two proper channels of the sound system: that is the HC2PLU’s whole purpose, and it is a purpose that comes up at nearly every event.
