Mx 2385 Aux Cable Extender Ep Stereo Male 3.5 Mm To Mx Ep Stereo Female 3.5 Mm Cord – Tip Gold Plated 3 Meter

The MX 2385 is a 3.5 mm stereo extension cable, 3 metres long, with a gold-plated 3.5 mm stereo male plug at one end and a 3.5 mm stereo female socket at the other. It exists to solve one simple problem: your headphones, earphones or aux lead are not long enough to reach comfortably. The male plug goes into the source, a phone, laptop, television, amplifier or car stereo aux input path as the setup requires, and your existing headphone or aux cable plugs into the female end, adding 3 metres of reach. The conductors are oxygen-free copper, and the gold-plated tip resists the corrosion that gradually dulls contact surfaces on plain plugs.

Key features

• 3.5 mm stereo male plug to 3.5 mm stereo female socket
• 3 metre extension for headphones, earphones and aux cables
• Gold-plated tip for a corrosion-resistant contact
• Oxygen-free copper conductors
• Stereo analogue audio, left and right channels carried through
• Passive cable with no power, pairing or configuration

Everyday uses for an extension lead

Television listening is the classic case: a wired headphone plugged into a TV often leaves the listener tethered too close to the screen, and an extension restores a normal viewing distance. The same applies to a laptop or desktop across a desk, a hi-fi amplifier on a shelf while you listen from a chair, a keyboard or electronic instrument practised through headphones, and a projector or media setup where the audio output sits far from the seats. In cars and offices, an extension can also move a connection point to a more convenient place, so a short aux lead no longer has to stretch across a console or desk. Three metres is a generous addition, enough for most room-scale rearrangements, and the stereo female socket accepts the standard 3.5 mm plug fitted to the great majority of wired headphones and aux cables.

Getting the best from an analogue extension

An extension lengthens the analogue path, so connection hygiene matters. Push the male plug fully into the source socket and your headphone plug fully into the female end; a partially seated plug is the usual cause of one channel dropping or a crackle when the cable moves. Route the run so it is not trapped under chair wheels, pinched in doors or stretched tight across a walkway, and coil any length you do not need in a loose loop rather than a tight bundle around other cables. Keep the extension away from long parallel runs alongside mains leads where the layout allows. If sound becomes intermittent, test by removing the extension and plugging the headphones directly into the source: if the fault disappears, clean the plug and socket contacts and reseat both joints before replacing anything.

Compatibility and handling

The MX 2385 extends any standard 3.5 mm stereo connection. It carries the left and right audio channels; if your headset relies on a combined plug for both audio and microphone, check that the extension’s contact arrangement matches your headset’s needs before relying on it for calls, since extension leads are primarily an audio-reach accessory. Handle the female end with the same care as a socket on a device, since it takes a fresh insertion every time headphones are connected: grip the body of each plug when joining or separating them rather than pulling the cable, and store the lead coiled loosely with the ends kept clean and dry.

For adding 3 metres of reach to wired headphones and aux connections, with a gold-plated plug and oxygen-free copper conductors, the MX 2385 is the straightforward extension for home, desk and studio-side use.
