Kordz ONE Series 16AWG Speaker Cable

Kordz ONE Series 16AWG Speaker Cable

The Kordz ONE Series 16AWG speaker cable is an installer-grade bulk speaker cable built around 99.99 percent oxygen free copper conductors and a low smoke zero halogen jacket. Kordz designs the ONE series for custom installation work, where cable is pulled through walls, ceilings and trunking and then expected to perform without attention for years. Practical installer details set it apart from generic speaker wire: an easy-glide outer jacket that flows through routes without twisting or snagging, metre markings printed along the cable so you always know how much you have pulled and how much remains, and an internal nylon ripcord that opens the jacket quickly for clean, fast stripping at termination.

Key features

• 16 AWG conductors in 99.99 percent oxygen free copper
• Low smoke zero halogen jacket construction
• Easy-glide jacket that resists twisting and snagging during pulls
• Metre marked along the cable for accurate measurement
• Internal nylon ripcord for fast, clean jacket stripping
• Kordz ONE series installer-grade build

The right gauge for bookshelf and surround work

Sixteen gauge is the sensible size for bookshelf speakers, centre and surround channels, desktop systems and multi-room speakers over the short to moderate runs typical of homes and small commercial spaces. It keeps series resistance low across those distances while staying slim and flexible enough to hide along skirting, behind furniture and inside trunking. In a 5.1 or larger surround system, the rear channels usually travel the farthest, often around the room perimeter; choosing a consistent, good-quality 16 AWG cable for every channel keeps levels and tonal balance matched across the system and simplifies ordering, since one cable type covers the whole installation.

Built for installation

The low smoke zero halogen jacket matters wherever cable runs inside buildings: in a fire, LSZH materials emit far less dense smoke and no halogen gases than ordinary PVC, which is why installers specify it for commercial premises and increasingly for homes. Kordz declares the ONE speaker cable to CPR performance class Eca under the European construction products standard. The easy-glide jacket compound is formulated to slide through conduit and around bends instead of curling and jamming, saving real time on site, and the metre marking removes the guesswork when measuring a pull against the remaining length on the reel.

Termination and polarity

Wire with the amplifier switched off. Strip the jacket using the ripcord, expose a short length of conductor, and connect positive to positive and negative to negative at the amplifier and at each speaker, following the conductor identification so polarity stays consistent across every channel. Reversed polarity on one speaker does not damage anything, but it thins the bass and smears the image, and it is the most common wiring error in new installations. The cable terminates bare into spring clips and binding posts, or with banana plugs and spades where the equipment accepts them; connectors are chosen separately. After wiring, play a familiar recording at modest level and confirm every channel is present, balanced and in phase before closing up trunking or wall plates.

Choosing your length

Measure each route as it will actually be run, along walls and through the intended path rather than straight across the room, and add slack at both ends for termination and for pulling equipment forward later. Surround and height channels in particular reward generous measurement, because a run that arrives under tension at the speaker terminal is a future fault. Order for the longest version of the route you might adopt if speakers could move, since spare cable coils neatly behind a cabinet while a short run cannot be stretched.

For bookshelf pairs, surround systems and tidy custom installations, the Kordz ONE 16AWG combines clean OFC conductors, a safer LSZH jacket and genuinely useful installer detailing in one cable.
