BenQ EW3280U 32-Inch 4K IPS HDRi Monitor

BenQ EW3280U 32-Inch 4K IPS HDRi Monitor

The BenQ EW3280U is a 32-inch entertainment monitor that treats sound as seriously as picture. Its 4K UHD IPS panel is paired with BenQ’s HDRi image processing and a built-in treVolo 2.1-channel speaker system with its own woofer, a combination that lets films, streaming series and console games fill a room without a separate soundbar on the desk. A single USB-C cable can carry the picture from a laptop and return up to 60 W of charging power, so the same screen works as a media display in the evening and a large, tidy workstation during the day.

Key Features

• 32-inch IPS panel with 3840 x 2160 4K UHD resolution
• HDRi processing with HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400
• 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut for vivid, cinema-grade colour
• treVolo 2.1-channel audio: 2 x 2 W speakers plus a 5 W woofer
• USB-C input with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 60 W power delivery
• AMD FreeSync, 60 Hz refresh and 5 ms GtG response for smooth playback

Picture quality and HDRi

The IPS panel holds its colour and contrast across wide 178-degree viewing angles, which matters on a screen this size because viewers rarely sit in one perfect spot. HDRi goes further than standard HDR tone mapping: a built-in light sensor reads the room, and Brightness Intelligence Plus adjusts brightness and colour temperature to match, while the HDR processing balances saturation and detail so bright scenes keep their punch without crushing shadow detail. The panel covers 95% of the DCI-P3 gamut used for cinema and streaming content, reaches 350 nits in typical use and 400 nits with HDR, and holds a 1000:1 native contrast ratio. A dedicated 24p mode plays film content at its native frame rate for judder-free movies.

treVolo sound built in

Most monitors treat speakers as an afterthought. The EW3280U was voiced by BenQ’s treVolo team around a DSP-driven 2.1 layout: two front-facing 2 W drivers handle dialogue and midrange, and a rear 5 W woofer adds the low-end weight that built-in speakers normally lack entirely. Five tailored sound modes cover cinema, dialogue, game and music material, and a volume wheel set into the front bezel, plus the included remote control, make level changes as easy as on a television. For many rooms this removes the need for desktop speakers altogether.

Connectivity and everyday use

Two HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 input cover consoles, streaming boxes and PCs, while the USB-C port handles a laptop with one cable for video, data and 60 W charging. BenQ’s eye-care suite runs underneath everything: flicker-free backlighting, low blue light modes, an ePaper mode that simulates a paperback page for long reading sessions, a colour weakness mode for viewers with red-green colour vision deficiency, and an eye reminder that prompts breaks at intervals you set. The stand tilts for a comfortable angle, and a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern accepts wall mounts and monitor arms.

If your screen time mixes films, series, console gaming and laptop work on one desk, the EW3280U is built exactly for that pattern: a big 4K picture, sound with real body, and one-cable convenience.
