The BenQ GW2490 is a 23.8-inch Full HD monitor built around an IPS panel, a 100 Hz refresh rate and a set of eye-care features aimed at people who spend long hours in front of a screen. Its 1920 x 1080 resolution suits everyday office work, study, browsing and entertainment, while the slim-bezel design keeps a single screen tidy on a small desk and makes two-screen setups look continuous.
The IPS panel holds colour and contrast consistently across 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles, so the picture does not wash out when you lean back or share the screen with someone beside you. Coverage of 99 percent of the sRGB gamut and 16.7 million display colours give documents, photographs and video a natural, accurate appearance without calibration effort for general use.
Key features
23.8-inch IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution and anti-glare coating
100 Hz refresh rate with 5 ms grey-to-grey response time for smoother motion
Two HDMI 1.4 ports and one DisplayPort 1.2 input, plus a headphone jack
Built-in stereo speakers rated at 2 W per channel
Eye-care suite with flicker-free backlight, Low Blue Light Plus and Brightness Intelligence Gen2
Everyday picture performance
The step up to 100 Hz is easy to notice in ordinary use: scrolling documents, moving windows and web pages glide with less judder than a standard 60 Hz screen, and casual gaming feels more responsive. Brightness Intelligence Gen2 adjusts screen brightness in response to ambient light and on-screen content, which keeps the image comfortable as room lighting changes through the day. Colour Weakness mode, ePaper mode for long reading sessions and an eye reminder add to a feature set that is clearly aimed at sustained, comfortable viewing rather than headline specifications alone.
Connections and practical design
Two HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort cover a desktop, a laptop and a console or media player without constant cable swapping. The built-in 2 W stereo speakers handle calls, videos and system sounds without desktop speakers taking up room, and the headphone jack is there when you need privacy. The stand tilts from minus 5 to plus 20 degrees, and a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern allows wall mounting or a monitor arm. Power consumption is 20 W in normal use, with a built-in power supply keeping the desk free of an external brick.
Who it suits
The GW2490 fits home offices, students, family computers and reception or billing desks where one dependable screen has to handle mixed work all day. It is also a sensible second monitor: the narrow bezels and VESA mount make pairs easy to arrange.
Set the connected computer to the native 1920 x 1080 resolution and select the 100 Hz refresh rate in the display settings to get the performance the panel is capable of, and the GW2490 will reward long working days with a smoother, easier-on-the-eyes picture.
