BenQ GW2790Q 27-Inch QHD IPS 100Hz Monitor

BenQ GW2790Q 27-Inch QHD IPS 100Hz Monitor

The BenQ GW2790Q is a 27-inch monitor for people who read, write and build things on screen all day and want a clear step up from a basic Full HD office display. The step is twofold: a QHD panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution, which fits more code, more spreadsheet and more timeline on screen at a sharper 109 pixels per inch, and a 100Hz refresh rate that makes scrolling, window movement and casual gaming visibly smoother than the usual 60Hz. Around that panel BenQ builds its current Eye-Care generation, including Brightness Intelligence Gen2 and Low Blue Light Plus, in a slim-bezel cabinet with dual HDMI inputs and built-in speakers. Note the exact model name: the GW2790Q is the QHD model, distinct from the Full HD GW2790 and from the USB-C equipped GW2790QT.

Why QHD at 27 inches works

At 27 inches, Full HD stretches each pixel thin; the GW2790Q’s 2560 x 1440 panel increases the pixel count by about 78 percent, so text edges, interface elements and photographs all render with visibly finer detail at the same desk distance. That extra resolution is working space as much as sharpness: two documents sit side by side at full width, a code editor keeps its file tree and minimap without crowding, and photo or layout work shows more of the image at 100 percent. The IPS panel holds colour and contrast across 178 degree viewing angles, the anti-glare coating keeps ceiling lights from reflecting back, and 99 percent sRGB coverage matches the colour space of the web, office documents and most video, so what you see is what other screens will show.

100Hz, and the eye care around it

A 100Hz refresh rate is the quiet upgrade in this monitor: documents scroll without judder, cursor movement tracks more precisely, and video and light gaming gain a fluidity that is hard to give up once noticed. Brightness Intelligence Gen2 watches the room’s ambient light and the content on screen, adjusting brightness and colour temperature so the picture stays comfortable as daylight changes. Low Blue Light Plus reduces the more fatiguing blue wavelengths while keeping colour closer to natural than older low-blue-light modes, Flicker-free control removes backlight pulsing, and there are Colour Weakness and ePaper modes for reading and accessibility. The panel carries Eyesafe and TUV eye-comfort certifications, and an Eye Reminder function can prompt you to take the breaks that no panel technology can substitute for.

Connections and desk setup

Two HDMI 2.0 ports and a DisplayPort 1.2 port mean a work laptop, a personal computer and a console or media player can stay connected and be switched from the five-way input hotkey, with no cable swapping. Both HDMI and DisplayPort carry the full QHD resolution at 100Hz from a compatible source; check that your system has the refresh rate set after connecting, as many default to 60Hz. Built-in 2W x 2 speakers cover calls and casual media, the stand tilts from minus 5 to plus 20 degrees, and a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount accepts arms and wall brackets. With the stand the monitor measures about 614 x 448.5 x 181.9 mm and weighs about 4.7 kg.

For a primary home-office or studio desk monitor, the GW2790Q pairs the two upgrades that matter most at this size — QHD clarity and a 100Hz panel — with BenQ’s most complete eye-care package in the GW range.
