Beyerdynamic DT 240 PRO 34 Ohm Closed-Back Studio Headphones

Beyerdynamic DT 240 PRO Studio Headphones

The Beyerdynamic DT 240 PRO is a compact closed-back studio headphone for monitoring and recording, tuned for professional work rather than boosted entertainment listening. Its 34 ohm impedance and 99 dB nominal sensitivity mean it reaches working level from interfaces, mixers, cameras and portable devices alike, without a dedicated headphone amplifier. The design is deliberately practical: a detachable single-sided coiled cable that can connect to either ear cup, fold-flat ear cups for transport, and a rugged build intended for daily studio and location use.

Key features

• Closed-back circumaural design with high ambient noise attenuation for recording and monitoring
• Wide 5 Hz to 35,000 Hz frequency response for full-range checking of recordings
• 34 ohm nominal impedance, easy to drive from interfaces, mixers and mobile devices
• Detachable single-sided coiled cable, 1.25 m coiled extending to 3 m, connectable to either ear cup
• Gold-plated 3.5 mm stereo plug with 6.35 mm adapter included
• Lightweight 196 g without cable, with soft ear pads and ergonomic headband
• Ear cups fold flat for storage in the supplied soft bag

Monitoring character

Beyerdynamic tunes the DT 240 PRO as a working tool: a professional sound balance that presents recordings plainly so that problems in a take — room noise, sibilance, low-end buildup — stay audible instead of being flattered away. The closed construction works in both directions. It keeps headphone playback from leaking into a live microphone while recording, and it shuts out a good part of the room when you are editing or checking a mix in a noisy environment such as a location shoot, a broadcast booth or a shared office.

Built for daily handling

Studio headphones get knocked off desks, coiled into bags and plugged in hundreds of times, so the DT 240 PRO keeps its failure points serviceable. The cable detaches and can be replaced on its own, and it can be fitted to the left or right ear cup to suit the desk layout. The coiled section keeps slack off the floor while still stretching to 3 m when you need to move. With maximum power handling of 100 mW and a maximum SPL of 119 dB, the headphone covers quiet editing and loud cue feeds without strain, and total harmonic distortion stays below 0.1 percent at reference level.

In the studio and on location

The same headphone serves several jobs: a vocalist’s cue headphone during tracking, an engineer’s check headphone at the mixer, a camera operator’s monitoring headphone on location, and a compact editing headphone for video work. Its low impedance keeps levels consistent when it is swapped between a professional interface and a laptop or camera output, which is exactly the mixed-equipment reality of small studios and production teams.

If you need one closed-back headphone that records, monitors and travels without demanding special amplification, the DT 240 PRO is built precisely for that role — a straightforward professional tool with specifications chosen for work, not for show.
