FiiO JadeAudio JD1 3.5mm – LCP Driver In-Ear Monitor with Mic

This is the 3.5 mm version of the FiiO JadeAudio JD1: a wired in-ear monitor built around a 10 mm dynamic driver with a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm, finished in black with an in-line microphone on the cable. Where the Type-C variant carries a DSP chip in its cable, this analogue version keeps the signal path simple – it plugs into any 3.5 mm headphone output and works with no app, no battery and no decoding stage in between.

The JD1 is Hi-Res certified, with a rated frequency response of 20 Hz to 40 kHz, 24 ohm impedance and 109 dB/mW sensitivity, so phones, laptops, handheld consoles and entry-level DACs all drive it comfortably.

Why an LCP diaphragm matters

Diaphragm stiffness decides how cleanly a small driver handles fast transients and high frequencies. LCP is unusually rigid for its weight, which helps the JD1 keep distortion down and detail intact when a track gets busy. The asymmetrical magnetic circuit places magnets inside and outside the voice coil, raising the magnetic field density around the coil compared with a single-magnet design; the driver starts and stops more precisely, which you hear as tighter bass and cleaner separation.

Pressure relief and the JD1’s sound

Sealed earpieces trap air pressure that can stiffen driver movement and cause listening fatigue. The JD1 vents its front and rear cavities to balance that pressure, letting the driver move freely and keeping the low end smooth rather than boomy. The overall tuning is energetic in the bass with a treble that is deliberately kept smooth, so long sessions stay comfortable – a sensible balance for a first IEM that will be used for music, video and games alike.

The 3.5 mm version, specifically

Choosing the 3.5 mm JD1 means choosing compatibility and simplicity. It works with phone headphone jacks, laptop outputs, game controllers, audio interfaces and dongle DACs, and because there is no DSP in the cable, what you hear is your source’s output unchanged – add EQ in your player app if you want it. The in-line microphone handles calls and in-game voice, and the detachable 2-pin cable means a damaged cable is a cheap replacement rather than a new pair of earphones.

Fit and daily use
