JBL Professional 104-BT-Y3 Powered 2-Way Full Range Studio Monitor, Speaker, Built-In Amplifier, 30W + 30 W, High Output, Bluetooth 5.0 Compatible, (Black)

JBL Professional 104-BT-Y3 Powered Studio Monitor (Pair)

The JBL Professional 104-BT-Y3 is a pair of compact powered desktop reference monitors with Bluetooth 5.0, sold as a master and extension speaker set. The Y3 variant carries the same specification as JBL’s 104-BT: a coaxial 4.5-inch low-frequency driver and 0.75-inch soft-dome tweeter in each cabinet, driven by a 60W Class D amplifier (30W per speaker) housed in the master unit. JBL designed the 104 series as an honest sonic reference for music production, video editing and content work at a desk, with the convenience of wireless streaming and a full set of wired inputs for interfaces, mixers and media players. The black finish and moulded ABS cabinets with metal grilles keep the footprint small: 247 x 153 x 124 mm per speaker.

Coaxial design and desktop tuning

Mounting the tweeter coaxially with the woofer makes the 104-BT behave like a single point source, which keeps the stereo image stable when you move around a desk — exactly the nearfield situation these monitors are built for. JBL rates the frequency range at 60Hz to 20kHz (-10dB), with a crossover at 1725Hz handing over between the drivers, and coverage of 120 degrees horizontal by 60 degrees vertical to spread that image across a working area. The moulded cabinet includes a contoured low-frequency port, and the acoustics are optimised for desktop placement, where larger monitors often boom or smear. Maximum continuous SPL is 89dB with peaks to 104dB, which is ample headroom at the half-metre to one-metre listening distances of a desk setup.

Connections for studio and streaming

The master speaker carries every connection. Balanced 1/4-inch TRS inputs suit audio interfaces and mixers at professional levels; RCA and 1/8-inch aux inputs take computers, phones and consumer players; Bluetooth 5.0 streams reference tracks and casual listening from a phone without repatching a cable. The front-panel selector chooses Bluetooth, Aux, RCA, TRS or All, letting wired and wireless sources play together, and the front headphone jack silences the speakers the moment you plug in for detailed checks. All electronics live in the master cabinet, so the desk stays free of a separate amplifier.

Who these monitors suit

The 104-BT-Y3 fits bedroom and home-studio producers, video editors who need dialogue and effects to translate honestly, and students building a first monitoring setup. It is a reference tool rather than a party speaker: mixes checked on it reveal balance problems instead of flattering them. Listeners who mainly want deep bass for films in a large room should look at bigger monitors or add a subwoofer later; at a desk, the 104-BT’s controlled low end is a feature, keeping small-room bass honest.

Small, accurate and genuinely flexible about sources, the JBL 104-BT-Y3 pair remains one of the most practical entry points into proper studio monitoring.
