Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor

Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor

The Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor is a professional active studio monitor from Genelec, built around Dual oval 130 x 65 mm bass drivers + 90 mm coaxial midrange + 19 mm coaxial tweeter with 72 W bass + 36 W midrange + 36 W treble of amplification. The Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor delivers 45 Hz – 37 kHz (-6 dB) with a maximum SPL of 104 dB short-term, in a die-cast aluminium enclosure designed to minimise resonance and diffraction. As a coaxial point-source monitor, the Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor places its midrange and tweeter on the same acoustic axis, so imaging stays stable across a wide listening area, and SAM with GLM calibration adapts it to the room.

Why Choose Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor?

Genelec monitors are chosen because they tell the truth about a mix. The Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor combines Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) with GLM calibration and a coaxial point-source driver with careful driver and amplifier matching, so what you hear at the mix position is the recording, not the speaker’s own colouration. The point-source design is the difference here: because the Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor radiates from a single point, its directivity is controlled and consistent, which means mixes translate better and long sessions cause less fatigue.

The Genelec 8331A SAM Coaxial Studio Monitor suits recording, mixing and mastering studios, broadcast and post-production rooms, and serious home studios that need a trustworthy nearfield or midfield reference.

Setup and Connection Guide

Connect the analogue XLR or AES/EBU digital input, link the monitor to the GLM network with a CAT cable if you plan to calibrate, and place it on its Iso-Pod at ear height. Without calibration it works as a conventional active monitor; with GLM software and a calibration kit (both sold separately where noted) you can measure the room, correct level, delay and response, and store the calibration in the monitor.
