The Elgato Cam Link 4K is built for buyers who want proven professional performance without compromise, and this listing covers what it does, who it suits, and how to set it up. Whether it is going into a venue, a studio, a place of worship or a creator desk, the Elgato Cam Link 4K earns its place by doing its core job exceptionally well, with the build quality and control expected from its brand.
Why Choose the Elgato Cam Link 4K?
The Cam Link 4K is the simplest upgrade a creator can make: it turns a proper camera, with its large sensor and interchangeable lens, into a webcam, so streams, recordings and video calls look dramatically better than a built-in laptop camera ever can. Plug the camera's HDMI output into one end and the stick into a USB 3 port, and the computer sees a webcam, ready for OBS, Zoom, Teams or any capture software. With up to 4K30 or 1080p60 capture and ultra-low latency, it suits live streaming, YouTube recording, online teaching and professional video calls alike. The Elgato Cam Link 4K is a practical, long-term choice: it is designed to be used daily, to integrate with the rest of a system, and to keep performing long after cheaper alternatives have been replaced.
Key Features
Your camera becomes a webcam: any camera with a clean, unencrypted HDMI output appears to the computer as a webcam, no drivers or capture card setup required.
Sharp 4K capture: record or stream up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, or smooth 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps for fast-moving content.
Ultra-low latency: the direct USB connection keeps audio and video in sync for live interaction, gaming and interviews.
Unlimited recording: capture straight to the computer's hard drive with no time limit, unlike in-camera recording caps.
Pocket-sized and portable: a 20-gram stick with an extension cable travels in a camera bag and sets up anywhere in seconds.
Best Suited For
The Cam Link 4K suits streamers, YouTubers, online teachers, podcasters, remote workers, houses of worship and event producers who want to use a DSLR, mirrorless, action camera or camcorder as a high-quality webcam.
Setup and Connection Guide
Connect the camera's HDMI output to the Cam Link 4K with an HDMI cable, then plug the stick, using the extension cable if the ports are tight, into a USB 3.x port on the computer. Set the camera to a clean HDMI output with no on-screen menus, choose Cam Link 4K as the video source in the streaming, recording or meeting software, and set the resolution to 4K30 or 1080p60 to match the project. Keep the camera powered by mains or a dummy battery for long sessions. Take a few minutes to test the Elgato Cam Link 4K at working volume before the event or session, so levels, placement and presets are settled well in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Cam Link 4K work with any camera?
It works with any camera that outputs clean, unencrypted HDMI video, including DSLR, mirrorless, action cameras and camcorders. Encrypted HDMI sources, such as most set-top boxes, are not supported.
What resolutions can the Cam Link 4K capture?
Up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps, or 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps, plus 1080i60, 720p60, 576p50 and 480p60, depending on the camera's output.
Do I need special software for the Cam Link 4K?
No. The computer recognises it as a webcam, so it works directly in OBS, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and most recording and streaming software.
