BenQ V7050I 4K UHD Laser Ultra Short Throw Projector

BenQ V7050i – 4K UHD Laser Ultra Short Throw Projector with 98% DCI-P3

The BenQ V7050i is a laser TV projector: an ultra short throw design that sits on a low cabinet directly under the screen and produces a 4K UHD image of up to 120 inches, with a 100-inch picture from just 8.7 inches away. Its laser light source delivers 2,500 ANSI lumens and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio with light-source dimming, colour covers 98% of the DCI-P3 cinema gamut, and Filmmaker Mode presents films as their creators intended. The included Android TV dongle and built-in treVolo speakers make it a self-contained living room system.

Laser TV placement in a normal living room

Ultra short throw changes the installation conversation entirely. There is no ceiling mount and no throw distance to calculate: the V7050i sits on furniture beneath the screen, and the fixed 0.252 lens covers image sizes from 70 to 120 inches as you move it a short distance from the wall. An eye-protection sensor dims the light if someone leans directly over the lens, and the automatic sliding sunroof cover protects the lens from dust when the projector is off. A flat UST screen – ideally an ambient-light-rejecting design – keeps the steep projection angle accurate.

Colour accuracy and Filmmaker Mode

BenQ’s CinematicColor tuning covers 98% of DCI-P3, the colour space films are mastered in, and 96% of Rec.709 for broadcast and streaming content, from a 30-bit, 1.07 billion colour pipeline. Filmmaker Mode disables the motion smoothing, sharpening and colour processing that televisions apply by default, presenting 24-frame film content with its original cadence and colour. A dedicated DCI-P3 picture mode is included for critical viewing.

HDR performance with HDR-PRO

HDR10 and HLG content is handled by BenQ’s HDR-PRO technology, which tone-maps HDR brightness to what a projector can actually display, scene by scene, instead of clipping highlights or crushing shadow detail. Combined with light-source dimming for a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, night scenes hold depth while bright highlights keep their detail. Silence mode reduces fan noise and processing for late-night viewing, and 3D playback is supported for compatible discs.

Sound and everyday use

The stereo treVolo speakers – two 5 W chamber drivers tuned for clear dialogue – handle films and television without external equipment for most viewers. HDMI ARC returns audio to a soundbar, and an optical S/PDIF output covers receivers and powered speakers. Android TV on the QS01 dongle streams the major services with voice search, Google Cast mirrors phones and laptops, and two HDMI 2.0b inputs plus three USB ports handle consoles, players and media drives. Fan noise is 34 dB in Normal mode and 29 dB in Eco mode.

For film-focused living rooms that want cinema colour and a 100-inch-plus screen with television simplicity, the V7050i is BenQ’s most complete laser TV answer.
