Samsung LSP7T The Premiere 4K Projector

Samsung LSP7T The Premiere 4K Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector

The Samsung LSP7T is the Series 7 model in The Premiere range, an ultra short throw laser projector designed to sit on a low cabinet directly beneath the screen wall rather than on a ceiling mount across the room. Its single laser light source and DLP projection system produce a 3840 x 2160 picture at sizes between 90 and 120 inches, while the built-in Tizen smart platform and 2.2-channel sound system mean the unit also works as a self-contained viewing system for rooms where a separate television and soundbar arrangement is not wanted.

Key features

• Ultra short throw lens: 0.25 throw ratio, with a 100-inch image from a projection distance of 303 mm
• 4K resolution: 3840 x 2160 DLP projection system with UHD Processor picture engine
• Single laser light source: rated life of 20,000 hours and 2,200 lumens peak brightness
• HDR support: HDR10+ decoding, HDR and HLG, with Filmmaker Mode
• Built-in sound: 2.2-channel speaker system with 30 W output and integrated woofers
• Smart TV platform: Tizen operating system with streaming apps, web browser and SmartThings support
• eARC audio return: three HDMI inputs, including eARC for passing audio to external equipment

Ultra short throw placement

Because the lens works at a 0.25 throw ratio, the LSP7T sits close to the wall it projects onto, on the same furniture that would normally hold a television. That removes the long cable runs, ceiling hardware and shadow problems of a conventional projector, and it keeps the seating area clear of a beam passing overhead. Screen size is set largely by how far the unit sits from the wall, covering 90 to 120 inches, so the cabinet position and the wall surface need to be planned together before the room is finished.

Picture processing and HDR

The UHD Processor handles scaling and picture adjustment, and the projector decodes HDR10+ alongside standard HDR and HLG broadcasts. Contrast is rated at 1,000:1 native and 2,000,000:1 dynamic, and Samsung includes Filmmaker Mode for viewers who prefer film content shown without motion smoothing or added processing. Pur Color processing, Contrast Enhancer and Auto Motion Plus are also on board, and an eye protection mode reduces the intensity of the projected light if someone walks into the beam path close to the lens.

Sound built into the cabinet

A 2.2-channel speaker arrangement with built-in woofers delivers 30 W of output, which is considerably more than the small speakers fitted to most projectors. Dialogue enhancement and Adaptive Sound adjust the balance to the content being played, and Dolby Digital Plus decoding is supported. Bluetooth audio and Multiroom Link are included for wireless listening or linking with other Samsung audio products, while the optical digital output and HDMI eARC allow a separate sound system to take over when the room has one.

Smart platform and connections

Tizen brings the same interface used on Samsung televisions, with streaming services, a web browser, screen mirroring from phones, Tap View and Multi-View. Bixby voice control is built in, and SmartThings app support lets the projector sit inside a wider connected home setup. Connections comprise three HDMI inputs, one USB port, Ethernet, an optical digital audio output and a tuner input, plus Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2. The chassis measures 532 x 132.7 x 342 mm and weighs 9.1 kg, finished as a low, wide lifestyle cabinet rather than a traditional black projector box.

For living rooms that need a very large picture without a ceiling-mounted projector or a permanent television wall, the LSP7T combines projection, smart streaming and usable built-in sound in a single unit that lives where a TV stand would normally go.
