The Alto TX312 is a two-way powered PA loudspeaker that pairs a 12-inch woofer and a 1-inch titanium compression driver with 700 watts of peak Class D amplification. Amplification and drivers

The TX312 is bi-amplified, meaning separate amplifier channels drive the woofer and the compression driver through an active crossover, rather than one amplifier feeding a passive network. Total output is 700 watts peak and 350 watts continuous from an efficient Class D design, so the cabinet stays light and runs cool compared with older amplifier technology. The 12-inch low-frequency driver uses a 2-inch voice coil, and the high frequencies are handled by a 1-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver on a wide-dispersion horn. An analogue limiter and compressor, with thermal and overload protection, guards the drivers when the system is pushed, and a clip limiter LED on the rear panel shows when the input is being driven too hard.

Coverage and placement

The horn provides 90 degrees of horizontal and 60 degrees of vertical coverage, a pattern that suits audience areas in small and medium rooms and helps keep sound off side walls. The trapezoidal, multi-angle enclosure stands upright on a standard 36 mm pole socket for main PA use, or lies on its side as a wedge monitor for a performer, so the same cabinet can cover front-of-house duty at one event and foldback at the next. Aim the cabinet at the listeners and keep microphones behind its coverage pattern, and the available output goes a long way.

Connections and controls

A single balanced combo connector accepts an XLR or 1/4-inch TRS plug at microphone or line level, so a microphone can be used directly for announcements, or a mixer output can feed the speaker. The XLR link output passes the signal on to a second powered speaker. Rear-panel controls are a volume knob, a power switch, a ground-lift switch for breaking hum loops, and the Contour switch, which applies a 3 dB boost at low and high frequencies to add presence at lower listening levels. Power LEDs on the front and rear panels confirm the speaker is on from either side of the stage.

Cabinet and transport

The enclosure is injection-moulded polypropylene with a full metal grille and rubber feet, a construction that tolerates the knocks of regular transport better than wooden cabinets at this level, and integrated carry handles make one-person load-ins realistic. Power connects through a standard IEC inlet, with versions for 100 to 120 V and 220 to 240 V mains.
