The Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker is the largest coaxial model in Focal’s 100 series, built around an 8 inch Polyglass woofer and a 1 inch aluminium inverted dome tweeter that pivots 360 degrees and tilts up to 20 degrees. Its larger woofer reaches down to 53 Hz, giving fuller bass than the smaller 100 series models, while still fitting a standard ceiling or wall with a paintable magnetic grille. The Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker suits rooms that need more scale and weight from a discreet speaker, including larger living rooms and home cinemas.
Why Choose This Product?
The Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker earns its place because it keeps the 100 series virtues, adjustable tweeter, three-position level switch, frameless paintable grilles and humidity resistance, and adds genuine low-end authority from the 8 inch driver. Recommended power of 25 to 150 watts means it pairs with modest receivers as well as stronger amplifiers, and the coaxial layout keeps voices and instruments coherent from a single point in the ceiling. For a main stereo pair in a larger room, or for front and surround channels in a cinema, it is the 100 series model that does not sound small.

Ceiling or wall use: The Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker works in ceilings and walls, with round and square paintable magnetic grilles.
Wide power range: 25 to 150 watts recommended power into 8 ohms, suitable for receivers and dedicated amplifiers.
Humidity resistant: Built for humid rooms as well as dry rooms, including bathrooms and kitchens.
5-year warranty: Backed by Focal’s warranty for installed speakers.
Best Suited For
The Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker suits larger living rooms, open-plan spaces and home cinemas where a small ceiling speaker would sound thin. It works as a main stereo pair, as front or surround channels in a cinema, and as a high-output zone speaker in multi-room systems.
Setup and Connection Guide
Cut an 8 and 3/4 inch opening using the template, wire the speaker from an amplifier rated 25 to 150 watts into 8 ohms, and mount it at 4 and 3/8 inches of depth behind the surface. Aim the tweeter toward the seats using its pivot and tilt, set the level switch for the room, and fit the paintable magnetic grille. Pair with a subwoofer for full cinema bass in larger rooms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker much bigger than the 100ICW5?
Yes. Its 8 inch woofer needs an 8 and 3/4 inch cut-out and reaches down to 53 Hz, against the 100ICW5’s 174 mm cut-out and 65 Hz, so it suits larger rooms and plays louder with more bass.
Can the Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker be aimed at the listener?
Yes. The tweeter pivots through 360 degrees and tilts up to 20 degrees, so high frequencies can be directed at the seating position.
Does the Focal 100ICW8 In-Ceiling Speaker need a powerful amplifier?
No. It is rated 25 to 150 watts into 8 ohms, so a normal AV receiver drives it well, while a stronger amplifier gives more headroom.
