The Edifier MR4 is a powered 2.0 studio monitor system built for honest sound in small rooms. Edifier tuned it for the flatter response curve that music production needs: what you hear is what is actually in the recording, so mixes made on the MR4 translate to other systems instead of flattering you in the studio and disappointing you everywhere else.

Each cabinet pairs a 4-inch woofer with a 1-inch silk dome tweeter whose special coating keeps treble smooth and natural. A Class D amplifier delivers 42 W RMS in total, and an inductive-capacitive second-order crossover feeds each driver a cleaner signal, preserving the purity of the sound. The frequency response reaches down to 60 Hz – remarkable for a monitor of this size – while the MDF wooden cabinet keeps resonance under control.

Two monitors in one

The MR4’s dual-mode design separates work from listening. Monitor mode gives the true, uncoloured sound needed for recording, mixing and editing decisions. Music mode adds life for daily listening – films, games and playback. Switching is a double-click of the front knob, which also handles power and volume, so the controls you touch daily are on the front while the set-and-forget bass and treble trims live on the rear panel.

Connections for a real desk

Balanced TRS inputs connect properly to audio interfaces and mixers, rejecting the hum and noise that unbalanced cables pick up. RCA and front AUX inputs can stay connected simultaneously – interface on TRS, phone or console on AUX – and the front headphone jack lets you check detail privately without re-patching anything.
