Three crossover modes, three jobs

The rear-panel crossover selector offers three behaviours. The 80 Hz setting applies high-pass and low-pass filtering for a seamless blend with the main monitors, creating the impression of one full-range system with no audible subwoofer location. The XLF setting is different in intent: it pairs a 120 Hz high-pass filter with a low-frequency tuning that approximates the enhanced bass response of a club playback system, letting dance and hip-hop producers audition how their low end will translate where it matters most. The External setting hands crossover duties to an outside processor and is the right choice for bass-managed or surround configurations, where the LSR310S can also carry the LFE channel.

Left and right signals route through the subwoofer first, then out to the monitors, so bass management needs no extra hardware. Balanced XLR and quarter-inch TRS inputs accept professional and project-studio sources alike, and the sensitivity switch matches the input stage to +4 dBu or -10 dBV equipment so gain staging stays clean either way. A detented volume control makes it easy to set the subwoofer level against the mains, return to a known balance later, and keep left-right system calibration repeatable.
