The JBL Authentics 300 is a premium wireless speaker that blends vintage-inspired aesthetics with cutting-edge smart speaker technology, creating a product that is as appealing to the eye as it is to the ear. Three-Driver Acoustic System
The JBL Authentics 300 houses a 2.1-channel speaker system comprising a downward-firing woofer flanked by two full-range drivers with separate tweeters. The woofer is responsible for the speaker's robust bass foundation, while the two full-range drivers project mid and high frequencies to the left and right, creating a stereo soundstage that is unusually wide for a single cabinet speaker. The combined acoustic output fills medium to large rooms with ease, and the bass reproduction in particular impresses with its extension and control – the downward-firing configuration uses the surface beneath the speaker as a baffle for additional low-frequency reinforcement.
Multi-Platform Streaming with Wi-Fi
Unlike Bluetooth-only speakers, the JBL Authentics 300 connects to your home Wi-Fi network for higher-quality, more reliable audio streaming. It supports AirPlay 2 for seamless integration with Apple devices and Apple Music, Chromecast for streaming from Android and Google services, and Alexa for voice control and smart home integration. Spotify Connect allows direct streaming from the Spotify service without requiring your phone to remain connected, and the speaker can be grouped with other AirPlay 2 or Google Cast compatible speakers throughout your home for multi-room audio. Bluetooth 5.3 is also available for quick wireless connection without Wi-Fi.
Voice Control and Smart Features
The Authentics 300 has Alexa built in, giving you hands-free voice control over music playback, smart home devices, timers, alarms, and information queries without needing a separate smart speaker. The microphone array is positioned for reliable voice pickup from across the room, and a physical microphone mute button is provided for privacy. The JBL One app enables sound customisation including a built-in equaliser, source selection, and firmware update management. The top panel features a rotating volume knob that pays homage to vintage audio equipment and provides satisfying tactile feedback during use.
Design and Build Quality
The Authentics 300 is available in both Black and Ivory colourways, each with a premium woven fabric grille stretched over a solid body with genuine metal accents. The overall proportions are compact enough to sit comfortably on a bookshelf or side table while projecting enough acoustic volume to fill a room. The build quality is excellent for a consumer speaker, with the materials chosen to convey the quality and heritage positioning of the Authentics series.
