The JBL Clip 5 is an ultra-portable Bluetooth speaker built around one simple idea: music that clips on and goes where you go. A wide, fully integrated carabiner forms the top of the speaker itself, hooking onto a backpack strap, belt loop, bike frame or beach bag in one motion, while the 45 mm driver and passive radiator produce a bigger, louder sound than the palm-sized body suggests. This Black version keeps the look understated and universal — it disappears against office bags, gym kits and travel gear while the speaker does the opposite.

Clip 5 is the current generation of the Clip line, and the updates are practical ones: 7 W RMS of output, Bluetooth 5.3 with multi-point connection and Auracast support, up to 12 hours of playtime with a Playtime Boost mode that stretches it further, and an IP67 rating that covers dust and full water immersion. Sound from a speaker this size

A single 45 mm transducer handles the full range, rated from 95 Hz to 20 kHz, with a passive radiator adding low-frequency weight that a driver this small cannot produce alone. The result is the familiar Clip character — clear vocals and punchy bass that carry outdoors, where this speaker spends most of its life — at a signal-to-noise ratio above 85 dB. Output is rated at 7 W RMS, a step up from the previous generation, and it is enough for a desk, a picnic, a campsite pitch or a small group on a trail without the sound thinning out.

Battery and Playtime Boost

The lithium-ion polymer battery (5.32 Wh, 1400 mAh) delivers up to 12 hours of playback depending on volume and content, and Playtime Boost trades a little maximum loudness for up to 3 additional hours when the day runs long. Charging is over USB Type-C and takes about 3 hours from empty. Multi-point Bluetooth 5.3 keeps two devices connected at once — a laptop and a phone, for example — so switching sources does not mean re-pairing, and Auracast lets the Clip 5 join other Auracast-enabled JBL speakers for a bigger shared sound.

Built for weather and rough handling

IP67 means the enclosure is dust-tight and can be submerged in water up to a metre deep for 30 minutes, so rain on a hike, spray by the pool or a drop in wet grass are non-events; rinse it clean and carry on.
