The Marshall Acton III in Cream is a mains-powered home speaker that pairs the look of a classic Marshall amplifier with a modern stereo driver layout. Stereo sound from a single cabinet

Most compact speakers play in mono. The Acton III angles its two tweeters outward and fits them with revised waveguides, spreading high frequencies across the room so instruments and voices separate left and right the way they do on a pair of speakers. The bass-reflex cabinet and dedicated 30-watt woofer amplifier handle the low end, giving a frequency range of 45 Hz to 20,000 Hz and a maximum sound pressure level of 95 dB at one metre. Controls you can reach for

Marshall keeps the interface physical. Brass-coloured knobs on the top panel adjust volume, bass and treble directly on the speaker, alongside a play and pause button, a skip control, a source button and the familiar power switch. The Marshall Bluetooth app adds further equalisation and handles over-the-air updates, so features such as Bluetooth LE Audio support can be added as the standard rolls out. At 2.85 kg it feels solid on a shelf and stays put when the volume rises. A 3.5 mm input covers wired sources, Bluetooth range is 10 metres, and the speaker runs from a 100 to 240 volt mains supply.
