The Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer is Genelec’s large smart active subwoofer for main monitors, large control rooms and immersive systems. The Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer combines a 15 inch driver with 800 W of Class D amplification and GLM calibration, delivering high SPL and extended low-frequency response without losing definition.
Why Choose Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer?
When a room is large or the main monitors are full-range, a small subwoofer runs out of headroom exactly when it matters. The Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer is built for that job: its large driver and powerful amplifier keep distortion low at high levels, while GLM calibration aligns it to the room and the main system instead of letting placement dictate the bass.
Key Features
15 inch SAM subwoofer: a 381 mm driver with 800 W of Class D power for large rooms and high SPL
GLM calibration: Smart Active Monitoring with GLM AutoCal for level, delay and room response
Extended low end: response down to 16 Hz for full-range and immersive monitoring
High output: 119 dB maximum SPL for main-monitor systems and large control rooms
Balanced I/O: analogue and AES/EBU digital connections for professional signal chains
Best Suited For
The Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer suits large studios, mastering rooms, dubbing stages and immersive installations where the monitoring system must stay clean and powerful at reference levels.
Setup and Connection Guide
Because this unit weighs 69 kg, plan delivery, placement and handling before ordering. Position it against the front wall, connect it through the GLM network with the main monitors, and run GLM AutoCal with the calibration microphone before judging the low end. Re-measure after any major room change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Genelec 7380A SAM Studio Subwoofer overkill for a small room?
For most small rooms, yes. A smaller SAM subwoofer will integrate more easily and cost less; the 7380A is intended for large rooms, main monitors and high-SPL immersive work.
Does it work without GLM?
Yes, as a conventional active subwoofer, but GLM calibration is required for its room correction and system alignment features.
What is the difference from the 7370A?
The 7380A is larger, more powerful and extends lower, with higher maximum SPL. The 7370A suits medium rooms and smaller SAM systems, while the 7380A suits large rooms and main-monitor systems.
