The JBL Stage 260F is the midsize floorstanding loudspeaker of the JBL Stage 2 series, designed and engineered at JBL’s Acoustic Engineering Center of Excellence in Northridge, California. Its 2.5-way design pairs dual 6.5-inch Polycellulose ribbed cone woofers with a 1-inch anodized aluminium dome tweeter mounted in JBL’s next-generation High-Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide.

The combination delivers the signature JBL sound: deep, room-filling bass from 40 Hz, a 90 dB sensitivity that gets loud without demanding a huge amplifier, and a wide, precisely imaged soundstage that holds together for music and movies alike.

HDI Waveguide: The Cinema Horn Idea, Refined

JBL’s HDI waveguide comes from its professional cinema and studio monitor work. The waveguide geometry controls how the tweeter’s output spreads into the room, matching it smoothly to the woofers at the crossover. The result is a soundstage that stays wide and stable, with voices and instruments placed precisely — the same imaging benefit whether the 260F is playing a stereo record or the front channels of a film soundtrack.

Two Woofers, Tuned Ports, No Chuff

Two ribbed Polycellulose cones share bass duty, so each driver works less hard and stays cleaner at high levels. At the rear, dual flared racetrack ports slow the air leaving the cabinet, which eliminates the chuffing noise and colouration that ordinary ports can add. In practice: bass that is deep and punchy at cinema volume, without the port noise that gives away a smaller speaker.

Where the Stage 260F Fits

As a stereo pair, the 260F fills medium to large rooms from amplifiers and AV receivers of 20 W to 225 W. In a Stage 2 home theatre it takes the front left and right roles, with dedicated Atmos terminals ready for the 240H height module when you expand to immersive audio. Finishes are Espresso and Latte, with magnetically attached grilles for a clean front.
