Polk Audio VS 255C-LS Two-Way Center Channel In-Wall Speaker (Each)

Polk Audio VS 255C-LS – In-Wall Centre Speaker That Puts Dialogue on the Screen

The Polk Audio VS 255C-LS is a two-way centre channel speaker designed for in-wall installation, sold individually as a single unit. It is the in-wall answer to the dialogue problem: a dedicated centre keeps speech clear and locked to the screen, while the flush-mount design keeps the front wall completely clean.

As a two-way design it covers the vocal range with clarity, and installing it in the wall at seated ear height puts dialogue exactly where it belongs: at the screen, at the height of the actors. For dedicated theatre rooms and living-room installations where a cabinet centre would clutter the space, this is the discreet professional solution.

Why the centre channel deserves its own speaker

In a surround mix, the centre channel carries most dialogue and much of the on-screen action. Asking the left and right speakers to fake that centre image spreads voices across the front wall and loses clarity the moment you sit off-axis. A dedicated centre speaker, placed directly under or behind the screen, locks speech to the picture for every seat. The VS 255C-LS exists for exactly that job, voiced for the vocal range so conversations stay intelligible even when music and effects are running at full level around them.

Placement for the clearest dialogue

Install the centre at seated ear height, centred on the screen, and keep the wall cavity sealed and insulated around the speaker for the cleanest sound. In dedicated rooms, an acoustically transparent screen with the speaker mounted behind it is the ideal setup: sound appears to come from the actors themselves, with nothing visible on the wall at all. In living rooms, a position directly below the screen at ear height achieves the same anchored dialogue without any cabinet on the furniture.

Who the VS 255C-LS suits

Choose the VS 255C-LS when building an in-wall front stage for a dedicated theatre or a clean media living room, and pair it with matching in-wall left and right speakers for a consistent front soundstage. It suits homeowners and installers who want cinema dialogue clarity without visible centre cabinets. Note that this listing is for a single speaker, which is exactly what a centre channel needs: one dedicated unit, doing the most important job in the system.
