This in-wall LCR (Left/Center/Right) speaker is designed to integrate flush into a wall and deliver high-performance audio while visually blending into a room environment.
It features dual 6.5-inch mineral-filled BDSS woofers combined with a 1-inch pivoting aluminum oxide dome tweeter, offering robust bass/mid output and precise high-frequency detail.
The speaker includes a tool-less installation mounting system and a paintable, border-free grille design for aesthetic flexibility in home theatres or dedicated rooms.
The DW650 is an in-wall LCR loudspeaker from Definitive Technology’s Dymension CI architectural family, built on the LCR-650 platform: two 6.5-inch mineral-filled woofers flanking a pivoting 1-inch aluminium oxide dome tweeter. One model covers every front position – left, centre and right – and it works mounted horizontally (the classic centre-channel layout under or over a screen) or vertically, with imaging engineered to stay precise in both orientations.
Like the rest of the Dymension CI range, it disappears into the room: integrated frame and baffle, a flush border-free profile, and a paintable micro-perforated magnetic grille. IP55 construction means the same front stage can even serve covered outdoor cinema areas and humid rooms.
Key Features
One speaker model for left, centre and right channels
Dual 6.5-inch mineral-filled woofers for output and headroom
Pivoting 1-inch aluminium oxide dome tweeter
Horizontal or vertical mounting with consistent imaging
IP55-rated; toolless installation with pivoting dog arms
Flush design with paintable magnetic grille
Timbre-matched to Dymension CI surrounds and Descend subwoofers
Why Identical LCR Speakers Matter
Most film sound – dialogue above all – comes from the centre channel. If the centre speaker is a different design from the left and right, a voice moving across the screen changes tone as it crosses speakers. Three identical LCR units keep one voice character across the whole front stage, and the dual-woofer layout gives the centre the headroom dialogue peaks demand at reference volume.
Planning the Installation
Allow a 405 x 206mm cut-out and roughly 93mm of clear depth behind the wall surface. Pre-construction brackets are available for new builds to reserve the openings and route cable in advance; in finished rooms the two-piece frame installs without tools, the pivoting dog arms clamp the speaker home, and the magnetic grille – paintable to match the wall – finishes the job. The wide, low cabinet shape suits the space above or below a large television or projection screen, keeping the centre of the soundstage exactly where the picture is.
Where the DW650 Fits
Front stages of in-wall home theatres, high-output stereo pairs in media rooms, and covered outdoor entertainment areas. Pair with Dymension CI in-wall or in-ceiling speakers for surrounds and a Descend Series subwoofer for low frequencies.
