Definitive Technology Dw Lcr 525 Max – Dual 5.25 Inches In-wall Lcr (each)

Definitive Technology DW LCR 525 MAX In-Wall LCR Speaker (Each) – Dymension CI in-wall front channel

The Definitive Technology DW LCR 525 MAX is an in-wall LCR speaker from the Dymension CI MAX series, built to serve as the left, centre or right channel of a home theatre that is heard rather than seen. Two 5.25 inch woofers flank a pivoting 1 inch tweeter in a frame that installs flush into the wall and can be mounted horizontally for centre duty or vertically as a left or right speaker. It is sold as a single unit, so three form the front stage of a fully concealed system.

Dymension CI is Definitive Technology’s custom-install range, and the MAX series is its higher-performance tier, sharing its voicing with the Dymension freestanding and Mythos speakers so installers can mix formats in one system without a tonal mismatch. The production speaker uses an aluminium oxide dome tweeter with Definitive Technology’s Linear Response Waveguide, and mineral-filled poly BDSS woofers. An IP55 rating is unusual in this category and extends use to high-humidity rooms and covered outdoor areas.

• Flush, border-free design with paintable micro-perforated magnetic grille
• Toolless installation with a two-piece frame and pivoting dog-arm fixings

Sound and dispersion

The Linear Response Waveguide, Definitive Technology’s patented design, works with the BDSS woofers to extend both on-axis and off-axis response, so the midrange stays natural and imaging stays precise for listeners seated away from the centre of the room, which is where most people actually sit in a home theatre. The aluminium oxide dome is light and rigid, producing clean high frequencies without the distortion of softer dome materials. The pivoting tweeter can be aimed at the main seats, and the premium crossover network keeps the voicing balanced between the two orientations the speaker supports.

Discreet installation

The integrated frame and baffle mount flush with the wall surface, and the micro-perforated magnetic grille attaches without a visible border and can be painted to match the wall colour. Installation is deliberately installer-friendly: the two-piece system uses pivoting dog arms that secure the speaker without tools, and the shallow 92.9 mm mounting depth suits standard wall cavities. The cutout measures 367.2 x 186.2 mm, and pre-construction brackets are available across the Dymension CI range for new-build projects.

Building a system

Because every Dymension, Dymension CI and Mythos speaker is timbre-matched, an LCR-525 MAX front stage combines cleanly with Dymension CI in-ceiling speakers for surround and height channels and a Descend series subwoofer for the lowest octaves, which an in-wall speaker of this size should always be paired with for film work. The IP55 rating also makes the speaker a practical choice for media rooms with pools, bathrooms and covered terraces where ordinary in-wall speakers would be a risk.

Choose the DW LCR 525 MAX if you are building a serious home theatre into the fabric of the room. It delivers the dynamic, precisely imaged front-channel performance Definitive Technology is known for, from a speaker that effectively vanishes once the grille is painted.
