SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SD Card

SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SD Card

The SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB is an SDXC UHS-I memory card, and pinning that bus type down matters, because Extreme PRO cards also exist in faster UHS-II form at different prices. This 128GB UHS-I card, model family SDSDXXD, is rated for sequential reads up to 200MB/s using SanDisk QuickFlow Technology and sequential writes up to 90MB/s, with shot speeds quoted up to 140MB/s. It carries UHS Speed Class 3 (U3), Video Speed Class 30 (V30) and Class 10 ratings, which together guarantee the sustained write performance that 4K UHD video and long burst sequences depend on.

Key features

• 128GB SDXC capacity for photo, video and mixed camera work
• Read speeds up to 200MB/s with SanDisk QuickFlow Technology
• Write speeds up to 90MB/s, shot speeds up to 140MB/s
• U3 and V30 ratings for uninterrupted 4K UHD recording
• Minimum sustained write speed of 30MB/s
• Temperature-proof, waterproof, shock-proof and x-ray-proof build

Speed where it counts

Peak read speed is the number that empties the card at the end of the day, and up to 200MB/s, achieved in a compatible reader such as SanDisk’s PRO-READER, keeps offloads short even after a full card of RAW files and 4K clips. Write performance is the number that matters while you are shooting. Up to 90MB/s sequential writes clear camera buffers quickly between bursts, and the V30 guarantee of at least 30MB/s sustained means a 4K recording does not stop mid-take because the card fell behind the codec. For mirrorless and DSLR shooters, action cameras with SD adapters aside, this is the working heart of the card.

Built for 4K and burst work

The Extreme PRO line is aimed at cameras that punish slow media: high-resolution stills in continuous burst, 4K UHD video, and hybrid shooters switching between the two all day. One hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes holds thousands of high-resolution photos or extended runs of high-bitrate video, reducing mid-shoot card swaps, which are exactly when cards get dropped, pocketed and lost. If your camera is UHS-I, this card lets it run at its designed ceiling; in an older host it remains backward compatible at that host’s speeds.

Durability and recovery

SanDisk builds and tests these cards for harsh conditions: they are temperature-proof across an operating range of -25 to 85 degrees Celsius, waterproof, shock-proof and x-ray-proof, with a built-in write-protect switch to guard a finished card against accidental erasure. The card also includes an offer for RescuePRO Deluxe data recovery software for two years, which can restore accidentally deleted images. No card replaces a backup workflow, but a card rated and tested like this is the right first link in one.

Compatibility notes

The card works in SDXC and SDXC UHS-I enabled host devices: mirrorless cameras, DSLRs, camcorders, card readers and laptop SD slots. Physically it is the standard SD size, about 31.92 x 23.91 x 2.17 mm. It is not a microSD card and it is not UHS-II, so cameras with UHS-II slots will run it at UHS-I speeds.

For photographers and videographers whose camera tops out at UHS-I, the Extreme PRO 128GB is the specification the camera was designed around: fast offloads, sustained 4K writes, and durability that matches location work.
