The Ahuja LXA-2000 is a dual-channel, direct-coupled stereo power amplifier in a rack-mount chassis, built for continuous professional use in halls, auditoriums and large installations. It uses Class H operation for efficiency at high output, and its power is specified as continuous RMS ratings at each load: 400 W plus 400 W into 8 ohms, rising to 1000 W plus 1000 W into 2 ohms, with a bridged mode for single high-power loads. Rated power, stated per load
Power amplifier figures only mean something with the load attached, so the LXA-2000 is rated load by load. In stereo it delivers 400 W plus 400 W RMS into 8 ohms, 700 W plus 700 W into 4 ohms and 1000 W plus 1000 W into 2 ohms, all with THD N under 1.0 percent and a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 Hz at -1 dB. Bridging combines both channels for a single load, giving 1400 W RMS into 8 ohms or 2000 W RMS into 4 ohms. Speakers should be matched to these ratings, and the connected load kept within the rating for the configuration in use.
Filtering and input setup
A selectable high-pass filter at 80 Hz or 120 Hz, rolling off at 12 dB per octave, can be switched in to protect smaller loudspeakers from low-frequency energy they cannot reproduce, or switched off for full-range cabinets. Two input sensitivities, 0 dBu and +4 dBu, match the amplifier to the output level of the mixer or processor feeding it. Inputs are provided on two XLR connectors and a 6.3 mm stereo phone jack, and each channel has its own 41-step level attenuator on the front panel for precise, repeatable level setting.
Protection and outputs
The LXA-2000 is protected against temperature, DC, RFI, short circuit and overload conditions, with a built-in limiter guarding the loudspeakers against sustained overdrive. Speaker connections are made per channel on both a 4-way Speakon connector and heavy-duty binding posts, giving a choice between locking Speakon leads for portable rigs and fixed bare-wire or terminal wiring for permanent installations. The amplifier is a low-impedance design throughout: it drives loudspeaker loads directly and is not a constant-voltage line amplifier.
Installation
The chassis measures W482 x H113 x D530 mm for standard rack mounting and weighs 21.9 kg, so it needs a ventilated, supported rack. Rated power consumption is 2300 VA from a 220 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz supply, which the venue’s mains circuit must be able to supply. Installed and matched correctly, the LXA-2000 gives installers a single, honest set of per-load ratings to design around, and the headroom to run large rooms without strain.
