The Ahuja SSA-100M is a medium-wattage PA mixer amplifier rated at 100 watts RMS, from Ahuja’s long-running SSA series of public address amplifiers. Note the model number correctly: the SSA-100M is a 100 W class amplifier — its ratings, published by Ahuja, are 130 W maximum, 100 W RMS at 10 percent THD, 90 W RMS at 5 percent and 80 W RMS at 2 percent. It combines a five-microphone mixer, two auxiliary inputs and a power amplifier in one chassis, with speaker outputs for both low-impedance speakers and 70 V / 100 V line systems, so a single unit can run a complete announcement and background-music installation.

It is built for the places Indian PA systems actually serve — halls, schools, places of worship, offices and community venues — where the amplifier must accept several microphones, keep working through unreliable mains, and be simple enough for non-specialist staff to operate every day.

Inputs and mixing

Five microphone inputs at 0.65 mV / 4.7 kilohms cover announcements, speeches and multiple speakers or performers, while the two aux inputs — one at 50 mV and one at 150 mV, both 470 kilohms — take music players, a computer or another mixer. Each source is mixed on the front panel, and the preamplifier output (200 mV / 600 ohms) and line output (1 V / 1 kilohm) let the same programme feed a booster amplifier for a larger area, or a recorder for archiving announcements and events. Output regulation is held within 2 dB from no load to full load at 1 kHz, so level stays consistent as speakers are connected.

Speaker outputs: low impedance and line

For a few nearby speakers, the 4, 8 and 16 ohm outputs drive conventional low-impedance cabinets directly. For many speakers spread over a building or grounds, the 70 V and 100 V line outputs are the right choice: each speaker uses a line transformer, cable runs can be long, and speakers can be added along the run as long as the total load stays within the amplifier’s rating. Having both systems in one amplifier keeps the SSA-100M flexible as an installation grows.

Tone, power and reliability

Tone shaping is deliberately simple: cut-type bass and treble controls, each -10 dB at 100 Hz and 10 kHz respectively, tame boomy rooms and harsh microphones without the risk of excessive boost. The amplifier runs from 220–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz, consuming 220 VA, and transfers instantly to 24 V DC (two 12 V batteries) if the mains fails — in a power cut, announcements continue, which is exactly when a PA system is needed most. DC consumption is 3 A.

Installation notes

The chassis measures 420 x 135 x 290 mm and weighs 10.5 kg. Place it on a stable, ventilated surface, match every speaker load to the correct output terminals, and never exceed the rated total load on a line output. Route microphone cables away from mains wiring to keep hum down, and switch off before changing speaker connections. Specified and wired correctly, the SSA-100M is a dependable, serviceable centre for a medium PA installation.
