AKG WMS40 Mini Vocal Set Wireless Microphone

AKG WMS40 Mini Vocal Set Wireless Microphone System

The AKG WMS40 Mini Vocal Set is a single-channel wireless microphone system — an HT40 handheld transmitter and an SR40 stationary receiver — that gives a singer, presenter or teacher the freedom of wireless at the simplest possible level of operation. There are no menus, no scanning and no channel planning: switch it on, and the fixed-frequency link carries the voice.

Simplicity is engineered, not accidental. AKG’s HDAP (High Definition Audio Performance) technology keeps the audio clean, the handheld runs for up to 30 hours on a single AA battery — among the longest in any wireless class — and the receiver provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced jack outputs, so it connects to anything from a compact mixer to a powered speaker. The set operates on a single fixed ISM frequency, licence-free in its band.

Where it earns its place

Small stages, school halls, houses of worship, fitness instruction, karaoke and presentation rooms — anywhere one wireless voice is needed without a sound engineer. The 30-hour battery life is a practical gift in these settings: the microphone works for weeks of events between battery changes, and the battery is a standard AA available anywhere.

Setup

Connect the receiver to a mic input, extend clear line of sight between handheld and receiver where possible, set the receiver volume and the mixer gain so speech is strong without feedback, and keep the transmitter’s switch in reach of the user. One channel means one voice at a time per receiver — venues needing several wireless microphones run several sets on their different fixed frequencies, or step up to AKG’s multi-channel systems.

Buying notes

Wireless frequencies are region-specific; the set supplied for India operates on its allocated ISM frequency. If your venue already runs other wireless systems, tell your dealer what is in use so the fixed channel sits clear of them.

For one voice, wireless, with nothing to configure, the WMS40 Mini Vocal Set remains the reference simple system.

Ownership notes

Keep a spare AA battery in the receiver’s case and replace it on a schedule rather than on failure — with up to 30 hours per cell, a term-based change keeps school and worship systems permanently ready. Store the handheld in its clip or case, and wipe the grille after shared use. Systems this simple reward only one discipline: being ready. Everything else about the WMS40 Mini is designed to need no attention at all.
