Description
BOSS KATANA-100 MKII 100-Watt Guitar Amplifier
The BOSS KATANA-100 MKII is a stage-ready 100-watt combo guitar amplifier with a custom 12-inch speaker, built on BOSS’s Tube Logic design for the punch and response of a cranked valve amp from a reliable solid-state platform. Five amp characters, Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown and Acoustic, each come with a newly voiced variation, giving ten core tones, while five independent effects sections cover Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb with three variations in each. Power Control scales the output to 100, 50 or 0.5 watts, so the same amplifier serves bedroom practice, rehearsal and stage, and BOSS Tone Studio opens up over 60 effects, channel and global EQ and adjustable routing.
Why Choose BOSS KATANA-100 MKII?
Guitarists choose this amplifier because it replaces a pedalboard, a practice amp and a gig amp with one combo that genuinely covers all three jobs. The ten amp voices span pristine clean tones, pushed crunch, singing lead sounds, high-gain Brown distortion and a dedicated Acoustic voice for acoustic-electric guitars, and the five effects sections can run simultaneously, so a complete gig sound can be built inside the amplifier and recalled from eight Tone Setting memories. Power Control is the feature that makes it practical at home: the same cranked-amp feel arrives at 0.5 watts for late-night practice and at full 100 watts for a band mix, without changing the sound’s character. For recording, line, USB and phones/recording outputs carry microphone-emulated cabinet sound direct to a PA, DAW or headphones, and Power Amp In turns the amplifier into a powered cabinet for a favourite preamp, modeller or multi-effects unit.

- Five simultaneous effects sections: Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb, each with three variations.

- Eight Tone Setting memories: store and recall complete amp and effect setups instantly.

Best Suited For
The BOSS KATANA-100 MKII suits gigging guitarists, rehearsal-room players, home recordists and teachers who need one amplifier for practice, recording and performance. It fits rock, blues, pop, metal and acoustic-electric styles through its five characters, and it suits players who want deep editing in Tone Studio as well as players who just want great sounds from the panel. It is less suited to players who need a valve amplifier’s specific maintenance and character, or to bass guitar, since it is voiced for electric and acoustic-electric guitar; bass players should use a dedicated bass amplifier instead.
Setup and Connection Guide
Place the BOSS KATANA-100 MKII on a stable floor or amp stand with ventilation around it, connect your guitar to the INPUT jack with a standard instrument cable, and set Power Control to 0.5 watts for home practice or 100 watts for a band setting. Turn the AMP TYPE knob to the character you want, press VARIATION for its alternate voicing, then shape the sound with Gain, Volume and the three-band EQ before adding effects from the five sections. Save a finished sound by holding a Tone Setting channel button, and connect a footswitch for hands-free channel and effect switching on stage. For recording, use the USB output into a DAW or the line output into a PA or interface, both with cabinet emulation, and for silent practice plug headphones into the phones/recording output.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is new in the MkII over the original Katana-100?
The MkII adds newly voiced variations for all five amp characters, doubling the core tones to ten, allows five effects sections to run at once, and adds Power Amp In and Stereo Expand, alongside updated BOSS Tone Studio software.
Can the BOSS KATANA-100 MKII be used quietly at home?
Yes. Power Control offers 0.5-watt and 50-watt settings alongside full 100 watts, so cranked-amp tone and response are available at bedroom volume, and the phones output allows fully silent practice.
Does the BOSS KATANA-100 MKII work with acoustic-electric guitars?
Yes. The dedicated Acoustic amp character is voiced for acoustic-electric guitars, alongside Clean, Crunch, Lead and Brown voices for electric guitar.
