Why Choose Focusrite SCARLETT 18i8 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface?
Third-generation Scarlett preamps remain a reliable standard, with 56 dB of gain, a single Air mode for presence, and the low-latency monitoring that made the range popular. For a studio that does not need the 4th Gen’s Auto Gain or Clip Safe, the 18i8 gives more inputs per rupee than its successors.
Key Features
Four 3rd Gen preamps: four microphone preamps with 56 dB of gain and single Air mode.
18 inputs, 8 outputs: four preamps plus line inputs, ADAT input and S/PDIF for a flexible rig.
24-bit/192 kHz conversion: high-resolution conversion across all channels.
Two headphone outputs: two headphone mixes for artist and engineer.
Speaker switching and loopback: A/B monitor switching and loopback for streaming and sampling.
MIDI I/O: 5-pin MIDI in and out for keyboards and controllers.
Best Suited For
Studios with several line sources and a few microphones, and buyers who want 18 inputs without paying for a rack interface. That is the buyer the Focusrite SCARLETT 18i8 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is built for.
Setup and Connection Guide
Connect over USB-C with the supplied mains power supply, install Focusrite Control, use the front preamps for microphones and instruments, connect line sources to the rear inputs, and add an ADAT preamp for drum tracking. Once connected, the Focusrite SCARLETT 18i8 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is ready for its first session.
