TetherPro USB-C to USB-C Cable (15 ft / 4.6 m)

The TetherPro USB-C to USB-C Cable (15 ft / 4.6 m) from Tether Tools is a dedicated tethering cable that connects a USB-C camera directly to a USB-C computer, with no adapters or dongles in between. It belongs to the TetherPro CUC15 family and is built for one job: keeping a tethered photography session connected while large image files move from camera to computer and camera-control commands travel back the other way. At 15 feet, or 4.6 metres, it is the long-reach option in the range, giving the photographer room to work around a set while the computer stays on a workstation, cart or tripod table nearby.

Key Features

• Direct USB-C to USB-C connection: One cable runs from the camera port to the computer port, so there are no adapters to loosen, lose or add a failure point mid-shoot.
• USB Gen 1 data at up to 5 Gbps: Tether Tools rates this 5G cable to USB Gen 1, with data transfer up to 5 Gbps for image transfer and two-way camera control.
• Fully shielded construction: Every TetherPro cable is fully shielded and plated to protect against external signal interference, filter out noise and reduce transmission errors and dropped connections.
• Bi-directional communication: Image data and camera-control commands travel in both directions at the same time, which is what live view, remote settings changes and instant review depend on.
• Power and charging up to 60 W: Tether Tools rates the cable to power and charge USB-C computers and other devices up to 60 W, alongside its data role.
• Reversible USB-C connectors: The USB-C plug inserts either way up, so connections are quick to make and remake on a dark or busy set.
• Two colourways pictured: The gallery shows the cable in high-visibility orange, which is easy to trace and hard to trip over unnoticed, and in black for sets where the cable should stay discreet.

Built for Tethered Shooting

Tethering changes how a shoot runs. Instead of reviewing small previews on the camera screen, the photographer, client or art director sees each frame on a full-size monitor seconds after capture, checks focus at full resolution, and confirms lighting, styling and composition before moving on. That workflow only holds together if the cable link is boringly reliable, because every dropped connection means restarting software, re-seating plugs and losing the rhythm of the session. TetherPro cables are designed specifically around that requirement rather than around general device charging, and Tether Tools describes them as constructed to the highest USB specifications for consistent conductivity and dependable transfers.

The 15 ft (4.6 m) length matters in practice. It allows the camera to move around a product table, portrait position or location corner while the laptop stays put, and it lets the workstation sit back from the set instead of crowding the shooting area. Tether Tools also notes that the cable can be paired with TetherBoost Pro or TetherPro Active Extension cables to extend a tethering setup up to 63 feet where a much longer camera-to-computer run is genuinely needed.

Construction and Handling

A tethering cable is handled hard. It is coiled and uncoiled daily, stepped around, run under tripod legs and packed into cases. Tether Tools uses a custom formulated, durable outer material intended to resist kinking, stay clean and extend the working life of the cable, and the fully shielded, plated construction protects signal integrity in studios full of lighting power supplies, monitors and other electrical noise sources. The reversible USB-C connectors remove the fumbling of older USB plug shapes, and because the connection is a single straight cable, strain points are limited to the two ends, where sensible cable support at the camera protects both the plug and the camera port.

Compatibility and Setup Notes

This cable suits any camera with a USB-C port tethered to a computer with a USB-C port, working with the tethering software the photographer already uses for capture, live view and remote control. Two setup points are worth knowing. First, this is a USB data cable: it is not a Thunderbolt cable, and Tether Tools does not specify DisplayPort video output for it, so it should not be chosen as a monitor cable. Second, Tether Tools advises that, for the best USB-C tethering experience, camera manufacturers recommend turning off USB charging in the camera while tethering, so the connection stays dedicated to data even though the cable itself carries a charging rating of up to 60 W.

For photographers whose work depends on a connected camera, the TetherPro USB-C to USB-C Cable (15 ft / 4.6 m) is the purpose-built link between camera and computer: a long, shielded, single-cable connection rated to USB Gen 1 speeds, made by a company that specialises in tethering, and covered by the Tether Tools one-year cable warranty.
