Kordz PRO4 HD 3 Metre HDMI Cable

Kordz PRO4 HD 3 Metre HDMI Cable

The Kordz PRO4 is a passive HDMI cable for professional AV installations, and this is the 3 metre length. It is an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable rated for the full 48 Gbps bandwidth, which is the rate the current generation of sources actually needs: uncompressed 8K and 10K video, 4K at high refresh rates, and the gaming features that depend on them. Kordz builds the PRO4 range for integrators, and the defining habit of the range is testing: each cable is individually production-tested for Kordz’s Connectivity Assured performance, rather than relying on a batch sample.

At 3 metres, this length covers the most common real runs: from an AV receiver or media player in a rack or cabinet to the television or projector across a room, or from a console or PC to a nearby display, with enough slack to route cleanly instead of stretching a shorter cable tight.

Key features

• 48 Gbps bandwidth for uncompressed 8K and 10K video
• Passive design: no electronics, no direction, no external power
• eARC support for high-quality audio from the television to a soundbar or receiver
• Individually production-tested, Connectivity Assured
• Lightweight ABS connector assembly with 1 kg retention force
• Flexible, fire-rated cable jacket (UL CMG rated PVC composite)
• Solid OFC conductors, 30 AWG at this length, with a slim 6.0 mm cable diameter
• Lifetime warranty from Kordz

Why 48 Gbps matters

HDMI features stack up quickly against bandwidth. A 4K picture at 120 Hz for gaming, variable refresh rate, 10-bit colour and multichannel audio together use far more capacity than a basic 4K stream, and a cable that falls short does not degrade gracefully: it flickers, drops to black, or refuses the mode entirely. A cable certified and individually tested at 48 Gbps gives the source and display the full rate they negotiate for, including Dynamic HDR formats and Display Stream Compression where the connected equipment uses them. The PRO4 passive range is DPL Labs certified for its 48 Gbps performance, an independent test on top of the Ultra High Speed HDMI certification.

Built for installation work

The connector uses a lightweight ABS front shell with a PVC injection-moulded boot and strain relief, and its 1 kg retention force keeps the plug seated in the socket instead of working loose behind a rack, while still releasing without damaging the port. The cable jacket is fire-rated to UL CMG, which suits in-wall and commercial routing, and the cable’s flexibility and 6.0 mm diameter at this length make it easier to dress through cabinets, trunking and tight bends. The anti-fatigue die-cast connector shell and gold-plated solid OFC pins are carried over from Kordz’s professional cable construction.

Passive at 3 metres

Passive is the right technology at this distance. There is no active circuitry to power, no source and display ends to keep the right way round, and nothing to fail between the connectors: the cable either carries the signal or it does not, and individual production testing is what settles that question before the cable ships. Kordz offers the PRO4 passive range in lengths up to 9 metres; beyond practical passive distances, its active optical models take over. For a 3 metre run, passive keeps the connection simple and permanent.

Choosing and installing

Measure the route the cable will actually take, including the rise to the display and the slack needed at each end, rather than the straight-line distance across the room. Connect source output to display input, select the input, and test the highest mode the system will use, such as 4K at 120 Hz or an 8K mode, with real content before the installation is closed up. eARC audio also depends on both the television and the soundbar or receiver supporting it and on the feature being enabled in their settings. Keep bends gentle and avoid strain on the connectors.

The box contains the single 3 metre cable. Performance of any HDMI run is a property of the whole chain: the source, every intermediate device such as a receiver or switch, and the display must each support the resolution, refresh rate and audio format selected.
