The Alto TX308 is a compact two-way powered loudspeaker from Alto Professional’s TX3 series, built for presenters, musicians, fitness instructors and venues that need clear, portable sound reinforcement without a rack of separate equipment. A Class D amplifier delivers 350 W peak (175 W continuous) to an 8-inch woofer and a 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver, all inside an injection-moulded polypropylene cabinet that weighs just 5.6 kg and can be carried in one hand. The cabinet’s multi-angle shape works upright on a speaker stand as a main PA, or laid on its side as a wedge floor monitor, and the single combo input accepts a microphone directly or a line-level feed from a mixer, so a working system can be as simple as one speaker and one mic.

The TX308’s two-way design crosses over at 2.5 kHz between the 8-inch low-frequency driver and the titanium high-frequency unit, which fires through a horn with a nominal 90-degree horizontal by 60-degree vertical pattern. That controlled dispersion suits speech and music in small halls, classrooms, places of worship, rehearsal rooms and cafe venues: sound goes toward the audience rather than spraying the ceiling and side walls. Simple, flexible setup

The rear panel keeps operation deliberately straightforward. One combo input takes an XLR or quarter-inch TRS plug, and the volume control carries separate reference bands for line-level sources such as mixers and media players, and for the much lower level of a microphone plugged straight in, so correct gain is easy to find. An XLR mix output links the signal onward to a second powered speaker for wider rooms or a simple stereo pair fed from one source. The signal/limit LED shows green when audio is present and turns red when the internal protection circuit is working; if it stays red, turn the source down. A standard 36 mm pole socket fits ordinary speaker stands, rubber feet steady the cabinet on the floor, and handles on both sides make load-in a one-trip job. The TX308 is designed for stand or floor use and must not be flown or suspended.

Reliability on the road

Alto built the TX3 series for equipment that gets moved, and the TX308’s moulded enclosure shrugs off the knocks that crack wooden cabinets, while a metal grille protects the drivers. Thermal and overload protection with an analogue limiter/compressor guards the amplifier and drivers against abuse, and the universal mains input accepts 100 to 120 V or 220 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz through a standard IEC socket, so the same speaker works on Indian mains without adaptors.
