AKG WMS40 MINI2 Dual Wireless Vocal Microphone Set

AKG WMS40 MINI2 Vocal Set Dual Wireless System

The AKG WMS40 MINI2 Vocal Set is a dual-channel wireless microphone system that puts two handheld vocal microphones on one compact receiver, working in the licence-free 2.4GHz band used by the current generation of this long-running AKG series. It is made for presenters, singers, houses of worship, schools and event hosts who need two wireless microphones running at once without the cost or complexity of a touring-grade system.

Key features

• Two handheld transmitters with one dual-channel receiver
• Digital 2.4GHz transmission with up to 60 metres of range in open areas
• Dynamic capsule with a supercardioid pattern for vocal clarity and feedback resistance
• Up to 8 compatible channels per bank for running multiple systems together
• Individual balanced XLR and unbalanced outputs per channel
• Colour TFT displays on the handheld transmitters

Two voices, one receiver

Interviews, panel discussions, duet singing and MC-plus-performer formats all need two microphones live at the same time. The MINI2 handles that with a single 9.5-inch receiver that racks neatly alongside other half-rack gear, and because each channel has its own output, the mixer engineer keeps independent level and EQ control over each voice.

Sound and reliability

The supercardioid dynamic capsule follows AKG’s vocal voicing: present in the midrange, controlled in the low end, and resistant to the handling noise and feedback that plague cheap wireless sets. Digital transmission keeps the signal clean across the stated range, and multiple selectable channels per bank mean a busy RF environment can be worked around rather than suffered.

Power and practicality

Handheld transmitters run on standard AA batteries or AKG’s rechargeable BA 2015 packs, so spares are never a problem at a venue. On/off and mute controls sit on the transmitter body where the user can reach them without looking.

For venues and performers who need dependable two-microphone wireless without stepping up to professional touring prices, the WMS40 MINI2 Vocal Set is the straightforward answer.

Scaling to larger events

Because up to eight compatible systems can run per bank, the MINI2 approach scales: a venue can start with one dual set for a host and a guest and add further sets for panels or choir soloists without changing receivers or workflow. Each transmitter’s display shows the information the user actually needs mid-event, and standard AA power means a stage manager can keep a drawer of batteries rather than managing proprietary chargers. For rental companies, that combination — digital reliability, common batteries and a compact receiver — keeps the set working across many events with minimal support overhead.

Setup takes minutes: mount or place the receiver, connect the two channel outputs to the mixer, fit batteries and select clear channels. From there the system behaves like wired microphones with the cables removed, which is exactly what busy presenters and volunteer-run venues need from wireless audio.
