LG BU50RG 4K Laser Projector

LG BU50RG 4K Laser Projector

The LG BU50RG is a ProBeam installation projector built for meeting rooms, classrooms, houses of worship and signage applications where the projector runs for long hours and the image must stay legible under normal room lighting. It combines 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160, produced with 8.3 million pixels, with a laser light source rated at 5,000 ANSI lumens. Rather than a consumer smart TV interface, it runs LG webOS Signage 6.0, the platform LG uses across its commercial displays, so content scheduling, remote monitoring and fleet management are part of the design. The result is a projector specified for organisations rather than for a living room.

Key features

• Resolution: 4K UHD 3840 x 2160, 8.3 million pixels
• Brightness: 5,000 ANSI lumens from a laser light source
• Contrast ratio: 3,000,000:1
• Optics: 1.6x zoom with lens shift H plus or minus 20 percent, V plus or minus 50 percent
• Platform: webOS Signage 6.0 with SuperSign and LG ConnectedCare support
• Image adjustment: advanced edge adjustment and warping at 4, 9, 15 and 25 points
• Light source life: laser rated up to 20,000 hours

Brightness and image scale

Five thousand ANSI lumens is enough output to keep text, spreadsheets and diagrams readable in a lit conference room, which is the core requirement for this class of projector. Screen sizes from 40 inches up to 300 inches are supported, and the throw ratio range of 1.30 to 2.08 with 1.6x zoom lets an installer match a wide range of room depths to a fixed screen. Aspect ratio support covers 16:9, 16:10, 16:6, 21:9 and 4:3, so the same unit can serve a widescreen meeting display or a wide-format signage canvas. HDR support and DICOM Part 14 compliance for monochrome medical images extend its use into presentation and conference settings in healthcare environments.

Installation flexibility

Lens shift of plus or minus 20 percent horizontally and plus or minus 50 percent vertically means the projector does not need to sit exactly on the screen axis, which simplifies ceiling placement around lights, beams and air conditioning ductwork. Where shift alone cannot solve geometry, the multipoint warping function adjusts the image at up to 25 points, and image rotation in both axes is available. Front, rear and ceiling projection methods are supported. These tools reduce installation time on site and reduce reliance on digital keystone correction, which discards pixels.

Management and operating costs

The mercury-free laser source is rated for up to 20,000 hours, so there are no lamp purchases or lamp disposal schedules across the service life, and brightness declines gradually rather than failing outright. webOS Signage 6.0 works with LG SuperSign CMS for content creation, scheduling and distribution, and with SuperSign Control plus for monitoring many installed units from one console. LG ConnectedCare adds cloud-based remote monitoring and fault diagnosis, so an estates or IT team can see a projector problem before a meeting does. Noise is rated between 29 and 33 dB depending on mode, and power consumption is up to 400 watts.

The BU50RG measures 370 x 290 x 156 mm and weighs 9.7 kg, a size intended for permanent mounting rather than daily carrying. It fits organisations that need one bright 4K projector to serve a boardroom, lecture space or public display point, with management tools that scale when more units are added across a building or campus.
